  1. Ok, just put a set of carbs (38mm gsxr) on the kat, cleaned and oiled K&N pod carbs have the b12 pilot jets in instead of the gsxr750 ones. All runs ok but sluggish for the revs to drop when you blip the throttle.

This is the brain fade bit xD is this rich or lean? I'm thinking lean but the brain won't open the right memory door xD

    Lean or rich?

  2. Welcome to OSS.

Just finished doing the same thing with a ET.

Best filters I'd say would be K&N go for the twin type ie two filters for four carbs think you want 58mm? But someone will be along to say for sure.

Jets, all depends on zorst, and what jets you're using, if Dyna jets start with around 144-150 you will also need the have the pilot jets set at about 3-3.5 turns out.

Start a build thread in the projects page with lots of pictures as we all like pics on here (y)

  3. I had the same problem with a bike I've just built the clocks I was using the taco was slow like yours, tryed a different taco but with the had the same problem. Was starting to think it maybe wiring or CDI but then had to change the clocks of a new set (second hand) but when I fitted them the rec counter worked just fine.

So must of been something in the clocks slowing the taco down.

  4. As above, best keeping the match sets together but if you don't know which is which you can swap them.

Had a GS head that had no caps got 2 extra sets one lot locked the cams in place and you couldn't move them, the other set worked just right

  5. I believe he and a mate from his works did the job, so I don't know just what they have done but I think it's looks like a start from the top and work down. Just hope it's just the timing and they haven't mixed up the crank shims.

  7. Mate poped over today ask me to have a look at his blandit 12 as it was making a noise.

He has just had a new cam chain fitted.  I can't tell if it's the cam chain or big end that's making the noise also sounds like some of the tapets are out ?

When I take the cam cover off, is there any way to figure out if the big end has gone or is it a complete strip down ?

Bike ticks over nicely no hunting and is nice and sharp on the revs with no noise, till you revving it over 2-3000 rpm.

    Any ideas?

People overlook how important "feel" is.  The best set up in the book is little use if it feels like you're squeezing a brick.

Or you grab a handful of brake and lock the front up.

We all need a good feel :D

  9. Some of the gs850 with a gear indicator have 1st to 6th gear lights even though the GS didn't have a 6th gear, don't know if the part on the engine is the same size as the 550 but I think (If I remember correctly) they are smaller than the oil cooled motors.

Also the gsx 750es has gears 1 to 6 on the clock part.

Ps have you tried finding the engine side of the gear indicator for a gsx1100efe or ez etc hen's teeth.

  10. You shouldn't do but what bike it fitted to?

Got 3 bikes on the road all fitted with led indicators ( each bike has a different type) and have swap led indicators when I've came across something else I like, never payed more than £15 for 4 all came from China/Hong Kong and all I've done on each bike, is put a led Chinese flasher relay on and they have all worked as they should first time.

The only ones I had a dislike to was the ones with inbuilt side lights, as you have to have the lights on for the indicator to work.

  11. I think the same grey colour on the gsxr engines is hard to find.

As to prep, all depends on whether you want to spend the time or spend the money on having it vapour blasted?

If you do it yourself, you need to make sure you remove all the grease etc, I use a engine clear first then go over it with panel wipe (thinners) then give it a good rub down, one more time with the panel wipe then spray.

Or just get it vapour blasted and paint.
