Had some of the Chinese one on my old gs1000 seem to do the job for budget shocks, I think @TonyGee has some on his gsx?
Not everyone likes the Chinese stuff but for a budget there ok, like most things Chinese and cheep you get some really good stuff that you'd add a extra £100 on for the right name stamped on it or you get something you just get your money back and put in the bin (as they don't want the expense of returned items )

What you doing about Speedo?

its a bit of a strange one wraith, petrol shouldn't kill a spark plug ! should it ?
The strange thing is, I can put the same plug back in next time and it works just fine
Plugs are not wet or black or Sutty they are a nice tan/brown colour. Did put it down to bad plugs but as people have said above maybe a cap problem.

Mmm, this maybe why I go through some many plugs.
Bike stops running on one cylinder always random, change the plug for another plug runs well, then it does it again etc etc etc, now got 4 sets of plugs that get swapped about each year.

Looks better each time anything above a 15T front sprocket you need to do that trim on the back bolt sleeve

Welcome to OSS,
Have a good look through the project pages, there is that much information there and meany gs750 projects.
Ps you could start your own project thread and we like lots of pictures
Can't help with your swing arm question but someone will be a long to answer the question.

Get a b6 for about £300 ish use the engine, carbs, electrical bits and running gear. Get some to weld mounts on the swing arm to keep it twin shock, get a rf600 bottom yoke for the b6 forks etc and away you go. Or the same but with a gax750f
Then if on the b6 route, keep your eyes only for some gsx600f fork springs to go in the b6 fork to make them stiffer,

Had a 1085cc kit in a gs1000 then put the 1100cc kit in it.
The 1085cc seemed much better.

As Viz says a gs750 motor will not fit
To put a oil cooled motor in b6/gsx600f, you can use the standard bottom rear engine mounts, make new (bolt on top front and rear, the bottom middle ones, one is a make a plate to bolt on the other is Tec a weld on but not a must have.
Have a good look through the projects pages, as it's been done meany times you will find some project build in there.
Don't forget the oil cooled engine's are getting to be 15+ years old now and the air cooled 30+ years old and a lot of the air cooled may need work done on them
For easy way it's a case of getting a running gs550 engine and putting that in. All depends on how much of a project you want and how original you want to keep the bike, and don't forget some gs550 came with CV carbs and the early one's came with slide carbs which have different carb rubbers and heads which could give you some matching of carbs as you gs550kat I would think are CV carbs ?
The down side of putting a oil cooled motor in (depends on your budget) is you will also need complete engine, carbs, harness and exhaust.
Like I said, have a good look through the projects pages to get some information of how involved it all is
Once you have the magic 50 posts you can put up a wanted thread in the market place, which will be closed to you at the moment.

Hi and welcome to OSS
Unless you have found a important chain drive gs650 (bit rare in the UK) the answer on no it won't fit, as most of the gs650 are shaft drive and completely different.
The other 650cc GS looking engine was the NX85 which is a turbo charge gs650 chain drive but again won't be a straight swap because of the turbo bit.
You can put any other gs550 in the gs550kat frame with no problems, or if you don't mind a bit more of a project which will mean a bit more messing, is putting a bandit/gsxf 600 engine or gsx750f engine in it, been done meany times or the other option depends on what's up with your 550 engine is to put the gs650 top end on the 550 bottom end.

Sorry for the confusion with my first post, I thought you had the teapot dot cams which are soft but as above if it the gsxr 750 dot cams they are as good as the early 1100 cams.
Just to throw a spanner in the works I'm told the b12 heads have a better flow and respond better to porting than the dot heads? Just what I've seen posted on here but won't increase the compression.

You can't use the shim type cams on the dot head, I would say the 89-90 cams the dot head cams will work as well but people say they are a bit soft?
Use your cam sprockets that comes with the engine
But it all depends on what you are calling performance? Do you want too end or bottom end torque?
Don't know about compression as most put these heads in b12

B12 basket with gsxr600 k4 hub etc like in my gsx1157et and @370steve have done, he.did it first

+1 with above

I don't think there are any difference between the gsx600f engine and the b6 (mk1) but I just want to make sure.
Anybody know one way or the other?
Thank

Welcome to OSS
18" 3 spoke gsxr1100j but if you can find some not cheep at all.
Other options front b6 MK1 front, you can get bearing for the smaller spindle size I think, you will need to make plates for mounting the calipers. Rear bandit 400 has a 160 rear tyre on a 4.5" rim gsxr400 don't know size of tyre bandit 600 4" rim I think, gsx750f. All these are 17" wheels
use a gsx750 teapot rear caliper so you can keep the caliper on top of the disc instead of it going under, saves massing relocating the torque arm.

I think you've answered your own question.
If manual is saying max 1.1mm and you're already at 1mm with some still left to go.
If it was me I'd finish lapping the valves in but know it's most probably be a full head job, and as your there put some new valve guide in and maybe a porting job as well

Got a set of gsx600f clocks I can tell you the size if they are the same size?
Anybody know if the are?
-
We all tipe shit now and then
Viz the brown seat you ordered is 99

The MK2 clock's you have are all electronic and when you remove the back they are just a sircuit bord.
The gsxr clock's are quite a deep clock compare to the MK2 bandit ones and you'd have to make a new mounting bracket.
I've got a set of bandit mk1 clock's on my gs1000 which look pretty good on.
Have you look at B4 clock's or even Zephyr clock's

I think the spacing is different, going to read the carb rubbers bit again myself now
