I think, but I maybe wrong, but it looks like it has some small amount of play

Had a gs1000 with 1085 kit, 1100 kit and a 1148 kit and I'd say the 1085 is the best unless you're going for big valves etc etc etc

Also rf900 or 600 but the rf600 forks are a bit soft and you could say a bit short but I've got rf6 forks on my gs1000.
If you're not bother about a front worm Speedo drive look a srad, front forks a bit on the short side for a GS maybe

As you say first get it running,
Oil and filter
Air filter
Clean carbs (if they need it)
New plugs leads and caps if needed
Upgrade ignition if yours dose not work, otherwise just keep the OEM.
Then look at what you want to do, big wheels?
Seat cover.

Did hear someone say one of the latter gsxr ones can be made to fit.
But I'd just keep it simple and get a new one of the above, no hassles just plug and play.

Not quite the same but, my kat with a 1127 motor fitted. I was running 38mm CV carbs on it till a couple of weeks ago (kept fouling plugs and not the same one) anyway put some 36mm CV carbs on instead (just to see if it's the carbs).
The bike wheeled on the throttle in 1st and 2nd with no problems with the 38mm carbs and the revs etc just kept going and my arms ran out before the bike stopped pulling. With the 36mm carbs it's much harder to get the wheel up on the throttle and it definitely seems to run out of steam way before the 38mm did, I would say the response with the 36mm carbs is a bit quicker at lower revs.
I will be putting the 38mm back on, as the bike is much more fun to ride with them ever in town or country.
Hope this helps a bit.
Ps, I've got a b12 motor in my et with a ported DOT head, gsxr cams and gsxr 38mm CV carbs and it is great all round lots of grunt good top end (not on the highway officer) pulls like a train and is doing 70mph at 4000-4.500 rpm sprockets are 16/48 before you ask.

You always get that buzz when a project bike first starts up
then that dred where you find something that needs more attention.

What bike is it?
as above, time to start into the main harness.
has the harness been cut about already?
Do all the lights etc go off when you turn the ignition switch off or do they stay on?
take it the engine kill switch dose not stop the engine from running?
side stand switch or clutch switch not do anything?
fuse box looks ok? Take out main fuse what happens?

Hi and welcome to OSS
You're in the wright place for what you need.
As @Fazz711 says, the gsx (et) are very similar in lots of ways.
The b12 lump will fit with lots of room in the gs1000 frame, I take it you're keeping the standard bodywork?
swing arm you will need top hats making to reduce the spindle sizes on the pivot point, and once you have your rear wheel in (take it you're using the b12 5.5" wheel?) You may need to go down to a 525 or 520 chain.
front end, have a look a All Ball Racing they have chart that give you all the bearing sizes for fork swaps.
as said above have a good look through the project pages on GS/gsx and that will give you good pointers.
start a build thread in the project pages with lots of pics as well

Don't know, but see if the exhaust gaskets are the same size and that will give you a starter.

If you can, get it put it in the back of the garage and just keep a eye open for a engine or engine parts.
A bit different but I made a full b12 motor out of parts got cheep off fbay for the grand sum of £200 which the most part of that was the gaskets
I know the gsx1100 engine parts go for more then oil cooled parts but always worth keeping a eye open.
If you don't get it and a engine comes up you will be gutted.

why don't you tell me ?
The shaft drive are a bit of a Marmite bike, you love them or hate them, each to there own. I hate standard gsxr's but a increasing number of people are putting them to standard WHY they look shit
good engines and running gear for a GS/gsx

I thought ALL Suzis used same diff internals 2.66:1 off top of my head, even the gsx1100g diff has locator for shock mount from memory.
Just what I was told off GSR site, but that's the yanks for you
Like all thinks USA all a bit different
They all seem to have the same wheel splines.

You can get a 160 tyre in without to much hassle or being expensive. Going for a 180 is where it gets hard, but the 160 rear really suites for handling side of things.
