  1. Very very basic,

Pilot jet = low revs and up to 3 rpm

Needle = mid range and overlaps pilot over about 2.5 rpm

Main jet high revs overlaps needle at about 5-6 rpm

This rpm may differ to revs engine goes to. Like I say very very basic

All 3 are linked by the float bole be separate fuel system affecting different parts of the rev range

Pilot won't affect top end and main jet won't affect bottom end, I've ran GS a gs1000 with a set of carbs gone from a 130 main all the way up to 160 main with no difference at bottom end but you can see it mid to top end

i know, those slabby carbs are expensive. Very.

As are the Mikuni 29 smoothbores that were/are

    a very popular upgrade ...

Yes, ever the 1100 CV slaby carbs or the 750 29mm both like hens teeth.

And just think, about 5 years ago I sold and set of 1100 CV carbs for £50 and a set of the 750 carbs for £80 :| that will teach me lol

  3. Cheers for the replys,

Yes slabby carbs ever the 750 or 1100 will fit both heads (CV and slide) but with the slide carb head you need to swap the carb inlet rubbers, I've used z1000j before.

This is for the CV head, I've got a set of b12 carbs and rubbers on at the moment but it feels like the carbs are a bit big for the engine/ports. I'd like to use a set of the slaby carbs ever 750 or 1100 but

    A. Trying to find some is a bit beyond difficult.

    B. They are bloody expensive lol.

So was thinking of trying some b6 carbs (as I've got a spare set) just need to get some rubbers and a bit of time to have a play.

Yes mate it feels like it's going forward rather than backwards.

Yes sometimes it feels like you're just spinning your wheels and not getting anywhere. You're now making progress.

I have an exact set of bst38's like you have in the photo and they were from a 750 L 1990.

Im planning on fitted them to my 1127 and was about to ask on this forum what jetting was required?

Would you mind sharing some info on your setup??

    Cheers and happy to share

    Jetting I'm running.

Main jet Dyna 155 (other makes vary in size)

    Needle in center groove.

Pilot jet 3 turns out. (Or put standard 1127 pilot jet in and + 1/4 turn out on standard settings)

I'm running gsxr1000k2 headers with home made link pipe, open end can and twin pod K&N filters.

Depends on your exhaust/filter set up you may need to do some fine tweeks for you own set up, but this should give you a very good starting point.

Thanks again for your carb info.

Need to replace the seals but I can't remember which model they came off they are the gsxr750 38mm carbs I've been running them on my 1127 engine.

I knt there are two different 38mm carbs one like these with the nut on the bottom of the float bold the other type have the more standard screew drain.

    So which model are these?

    Thanks.

Must have been quite a job fitting that GS1000G tank on a chain frame Wraith.

It was meny meny years ago about mid to late 90's but I can't remember it being as bad as some (ie fitting a gs650 kat tank to a gs850) :D and yes a lot of people thought the bike was a gs650 just because of the tank xD But it had a gs1000g fitted to the 850 frame the engine was 1148cc stag 2 cams 35mm CR carbs etc etc

  8. Don't know much about turbo bikes but a 130 mian seems small to me, did have 144 in a set of b12 carbs and always seemed to hold back, I put some 150 in and it now really goes and I'm getting 55 mpg

  9. The only problem with saying what model/year a 30/40+ year old bike is by the tank or wheels etc it has is/can be very miss leading, as them parts could of been changed most of all tanks.

I myself years back when a gs1000 was only worth about £800 if you where lucky, built a gs1000 for a mate out of a box of different bits, the reg plate said it was a 79 model but it had a gs1000g tank, gs1000s side panels, gs850 yokes and forks etc etc.  The engine didn't have a head on it so I put a CV head on it as I had one.

    so what model/year was it?

If you can see where I'm coming from ;)

  10. I was if the understanding the all the oil cooled ones will swap, the two main difference between them are the gears which you can swap and how the wires connect, ever wires from the alternator or wires to it.

Possibly an old school Katana 750/1100 rear shock.  Go to Babbits or any other Jap parts/bike dealer and look up the part numbers for these bikes and see if they are the same.......

Old skool kat where twin shock apart from the pop up headlight one ;) unless you're talking about the tea pot gsx which is NOT a Katana (y)

  12. Welcome to OSS,

Mite be best to put this in the oil cooled section ;)

Also interdiction is always nice before asking questions ;)

From what I know (that's not a lot xD) apart from the bottom rear engine mount, both the 600 and 1200 frame are the same.

Ps, if the b6 sub frame has been cut off and a 1200 welded on, why? Is the question you need to ask the owner has it been in a smash and is there anything else bent?
