Sorry, my bad
Hi,
I'm not 100% on the gsx1100g but I do know the vx800 rear goes straight in, well saying straight in, it fits the drive hub and has the same spindle, you not to take off the hub put in on the wheel and then fit it to the swing arm, as there is not enough room to get the tyre past the hub when it's fitted to the swing arm. Use the vx800 disc and caliper etc and you will have no problems.
I was told the gsx one will fit but never tryed it myself but I can't see why it would.
Ps the gs850/1000/1100g all have slightly different gearing in the hub and all interchange, so if you wanted to play about with the gearing that's the way

Go for the OEM.
I put some of the EBC ones in my bike years back, i didn't even get to do 100 miles on the bike till I was at the side of the road with a bike that I could put in 1st gear and give it a hand full and the would not even move.
Put OEM Faber and steels in and they have been there ever since, cost about £200 then but we'll worth the money. I don't say get OEM stuff usually but clutch plates it's got to be OEM.

I take it being a gs550e they are CV carbs, if so any of the gs550 CV carbs will work from any of the CV models.
You could even with a bit of jetting use the gs650 carbs.

Anyone got a RH switch gear for a 1990 slingshot for sale ?
Gaz
From what I know, any of the Suzuki switch gear will work from the gsxr400 to the gsxf and blandit. The b6/b12 look different but do the same job.
If you get stuck most probably got one in the garage but I don't think it has a plug on it.

Query - Why?
Are those few thou for a steel / paper gasket so precious to gain against the leak potential?
Yes very good point
it was a thought if it could be done ok, as the base gasket on my gs1000 is starting to weep and I'm going to be striping the top end off it this winter.

It's gone ridiculous really, I prefer to give any spare parts away
I did that when I sold a gs1000 motor, gave a large box of parts with it, then need a part I gave away and it cost me lots. So now if I see a part cheep and it fits one of my bikes I will buy it and put it in a box for a rainy day
I will pass things on to OSS people, as I know it will be going to a good home, otherwise I keep it. I've psst on all sorts of bits before to OSS people at the same low price I got it, even when I know I could put it on the bay and get 2-3 times the price, and I always will for OSS members.

And that's what creates the false value of parts....
Yes I know, have you seen the price some people want for crap on fbay
I myself have a box of parts for my GS that I keep just in case as some parts are hard to get or just silly money.

If not using a base gasket on a GS1000, what's the best way to seal it?
-
If you can get anything GS parts cheep, it's not a bad idea as they will only go up in value, as parts get harder to find/get

Sump

3 hours ago, Captain Chaos said:Which 1127 had a 4-1?
I believe some of the UK gsxr1100k had a 4-1 as standard.
Never really looked at a standard gsxr (don't interest me
) just what I was told when I get my first 1127 motor.
So with all things what people say and what is true my be two different things all together

You'll need to put the stem from the 750 into the GS1000 bottom yoke, with a bush.
The 750 has a smaller bearing set and steering stem than any of the other big Suzi's.
Well, I didn't know that, it's a skool day every day

Ps,
there is a place in Germany that sell patend lenses for £16 on fbay but the only problem is they got the hump with the UK when we left that blue flag thing and won't ship to the UK now

You could always cafe race it
I will get my coat

Well by the sounds of it, you jumped in at the deep end, so I will take my hat off to you and say well done.
I will say, be careful on here or before you know it, you we'll be putting a gs1000 motor in the 750 and giving it a big bore
-
Hi and welcome to OSS.
+1 on the above
Front end should be a straight swap but you may need to alter the stop locks, also the 750 clock's you may need to alter the mounts.
Swing arm, you well to do some work as the spindle sizes are different, not 100% but think the gsx1100 (gs1100 over there) is a bit longer?
As to the wheels, if you like them do it, for the type of tyre and brakes you have on a standard GS you won't see much if any difference.
Big PS. We like pics, lots of pics and start a build thread in the projects pages, then it's there for other people (like yourself to help others).

B12 rear
What front end you going for ?
If you use a bandit you will need to change stem.
If you use a b6, the rf600 bottom yoke they have the same spacing and fork diameter but the stem fits the GS/gsx bikes. The rf600 front wheel is a 3.5" so you can get a 120 front tyre instead of the 110 on the b6 and the both use the same discs and brakes and unlike the b6 mk2 that has the same size wheel but doesn't have a Speedo drive but the rf600 one dose.

Try Duck oil, spray it on all the electronic parts and start the bike. If there is a electric fault you will see a puff smoke from the duck oil wherever the fault is.
If it is a intermittent fault they are a pain to find but this duck oil makes it a bit easier.
-
I believe the sumps on all the oil cooled motor can be swapped but you have to change the oil pick up to suit the sump.
I'm sure there was a post or two on this subject
