  1. Depends on what you call a headache. I had to: 1. cut one side down and replace the bearing mounts by machining up some ally and welding it onto cut down part (or getting someone else to weld it for me...). 2. extend the other side by welding on an extra piece and replacing the bearing mounts in the same way. 3. having the knuckle (CV) joint from the NTV and the GS at the engine side matched up - I took it to a man who makes CV joints and shafts (can't remember where I found him!) and he did something with the dark arts to make it happen :-). 4. make a top shock mount on the GS frame (I did that :-) :-) :-) ). So not that much... LOL
  2. Cheers all just a idea so yes will look at an out the box way
  3. Has anybody tried using the GSXR1300 pistons in a GSXR1100 (1127) motor and using the GSXR750 dot head? As far as I see it, using the gsxr1300 pistons on 1127 con rods gives a 1216cc big bore, but with lower compression that standard gsxr1100 piston or 1127 normal big bore kit. However, as the dot head also lifts the compression, by using that too would you get a standard compression engine but with the bigger cc grunt? Wondering if it's a viable budget trick if you've got the spare bits knocking around... ;-)
  4. May help but Ive used a GSX750f cdi on a B6 before to get a mate back on the road and it all worked ok.
  5. Just finished my GS1000G and put it back on the road. As some of you will see it's not quite standard ;) NTV650 single sider which was on the old incarnation, NTV650 front wheel with new disc and a GSXR1000k2 6 pot, standard body work ish, GS850 tank (as it is really a GS850 when it came from Suzuki), GS1000g side panels, GS1000 tail piece, GSX550ef clocks, rassk rear sets. The engine has an 1100cc big bore, ported CV head, GS750 cams (as they let the motor rev quicker), GSXR1100G 34mm carbs. Braced frame. Etc, etc, etc.
  6. I think the GSX1100G had an 18" front as standard, and (no good for you) the rear wheels of the GSX1100G and XV800 go straight into the GS850/1000G ;)
  7. I've got some GSX1100efe forks with progressive springs fitted yokes and spindle, which I was going to put on flybay but PM me if you want can get size tomorow for you.
  8. Looks like the same as was on my old 79 GS850.
  9. If it was me, and not running the bike on the drag/race strip but on the road, I'd just get a good Dyna S and Dyna coils/HT leads. Been down the route of 8 plug heads and Magnetos, and for the street - apart from looking good - there's no point.
  10. I've sent you a PM with his number.
  11. He's in Macclesfield, he's a bit slow but a good job and cheep, the man who took them over to him and did the alli blanks and then the turning out is in Whaly Brige just over the hill.
  12. Just heard there is a bike show in Bradwell, Derbyshire tomorow 8th Aug starts 11am. Don't know much more about it as just been told by a mate at work.
  13. Welcome and nice bikes and work on them.
  14. Nice one, thanks for that
  15. Yes new carb rubbers here now and the chinese 1100cc big bore pistons are doing the job very well had no problems at all with them and It's gave the bike a nice bit of torque done a lot of miles with it now well worth the cash.
  16. Hi all, Thinking of putting some GSXR750N forks (91 I think) on my bike, can anybody tell me what lenght they are and do any other yokes fit them. Thanks.
  17. Cheers, I'm looking forword to seeing what it sounds like when I've done the rewire etc :)
  18. Not 100%, but I would think about 100-110 bhp at the rear wheel, will also be running with GSXR 36mm CV carbs, I know a old GS1000 I had with a 1085 kit and ported head but with standard carbs and cams had 97 bhp on the dyna rolling road.
  19. Just a gloss black. Got the bores with 1100cc hi comp pistions, ported CV head with HD valve springs, MTC under bucket shims, Anderson S3 cams, slotted cam sprockets, HD clutch. The only thing I need is a good crank, as I took the crank I had over to Roger and he found out it was f*cked
  20. Yes it's the 78-80 GS1000 headers, they do a Marshall type end can for them but I did not like that styal. Here's a pic of the Pro race end can I've now got, not fully bolted up yet.
  21. If you put your metter on te battery it should read 13.5 to 14.5 at 3000 rpm anymore the reg/rec could be at falt any less the geny is at falt. In the short

    Front brake

When your at it give the calipers a good clean and make sore the pistions are moving freely, as the rubber seals may of swolen and stopping the pistions from moving back.
