7/10
in Air Cooled
Got a mate who had a 7/10 said the 1000 went straight in with no fuss, but have seen on here someone saying they had to use the 1000 engine plates?
@gs7_11 may help

If the cam chain is getting to the point that it needs replacing, you could just get a split link cam chain but depending on miles on the clock I'd be thinking about a complete engine strip and think/look and fitting new cam chain blades/guides (front and rear) D.I.D are a good replacement chain but if you're stripping the engine get a end less chain.

Have you let the colour paint dry?
If so yes you need to flat the paint with some super fine wet and dry paper, then make sure wheels are clean and dry before painting

And if not, what model are these Lockheed calibers?
Aftermarket race part, don't think they make them anymore and finding second hand ones is hard to say the least.
Don't know of any plug and play that goes straight on to the GS forks, one of the problems is the GS discs are thicker than more modern discs.

Gsxr1100 k etc are around 10.5 red line but as above unless you had done some very special tuning/gearing it starts to level out/drop off.

Robinson's Foundry is one of the best places to go, they also have a on line parts list of what they have and haven't got in stock etc

thanks for the advice, I didn't really know what you meant about the cams but did a bit of reading and all makes sense now. That is a good idea, I might get some OEM cams and get them worked on to get a bit more lift to the larger capacity. appreciate the help.
Yes, will be running a custom stainless exhaust. will be building this at a much later stage though, still sourcing parts for the engine. The donor bike has 90K km on it. Don't want to take a chance.
With that miles on it have the crank check out because the extra power with the big bore will put more stran on it and if it's got wear on it it will show up.
Also if you need clutch plates use OEM as they are the best, DON'T use EBC they are cheep for a reason.

Welcome to OSS
Think someone in the projects pages used fzr1000 discs and calipers with caliper adapter plates (home made)
You can get Lockheed calipers to fit straight onto the GS but they a very hard to find these days.

Check your spark plugs, may of got suted up and not giving a good spark

Carb tuning, we all love it
One thing at a time, have you still got the extra holes in the air box still block off?
1-3rpm pilot jets
3-6rpm needles
6+ rpm main jets
Flot height should be 14.5 mm all the time.
Hope this helps but sounds like you have a idea of what your doing.

If you're using a vacuum tap, probably not.
Some of the gs850/1000g tanks have the fuel tap near the front instead of right at the back.
I think it's the yam r6 tap that fits and is a standard on/off tap.

Have tried the zip ties bit and didn't get on with it at all.

You could get you standard cams reground, use the 816cc kit and have the head ported/flowed.
O course you will be running a good exhaust

Welcome to OSS
I take it being a 91 it's a oil cooled motor not air ?
You will find the best way is to build the bottom end and fit the positions to the con rods then slide the barrels onto the piston.
You can get piston ring clams but I've never got on with them.

4 minutes ago, DAZ said:Don't quote me on this,I seem to recall that the rf stem thins out at the top and to use a b12 top yoke required a spacer type sleeve so it would presumably be the reverse in your scenario is the stem is too thick for the rf yoke
@wraithhas faster fingers
Arr, this is why I type gibberish at times

MK1 bandit 1200 I believe the spacing is the same but if memory serves the stem where it goes through the top yoke is a different size.

Slingshot never had standard straight spokes, W/C 750 wn etc maybe.
-
Just one more thing, the black is straight spocked?
-
They are mix and match, you need to put up pictures of the numbering etc that's stamped on the wheels if they are both 20mm spindles I'd guess they will be ever b12 or RF9.

The 80-83 and the 83-86 engines are different engines.
Also try the MTC site for kits

You can/could get a gsx750 big bore kit, think it was a 810cc kit ? But you could still use standard gaskets etc.

Be easier to just get a w/c bandit
