That's a bit more than no fairing and twin spots :D that I would call a Streetfighter other than a standard bike with no fairing ;)

Here in the states, at least on the west coast where I’ve always lived, the bandits were more of an old man/touring bike, and everything with a full fairing got ridden into the ground. Most people here still think street fighters are crashed sports bikes that you didn’t have the money to repair. If you wanted to look cool when you pulled up to the coffee shop, you needed something with a fairing, and ideally a matching jacket and helmet. The US also doesn’t give a damn if you’re 16 and want to buy a liter bike or a busa for your first motorcycle to learn on, helps keep the used sports bike parts cheap.

The other thing that we don’t have here is anything even close to MOT. Want to register a motorcycle? All you need to do is let them verify the VIN and it should have lights on it, but they don’t give a damn about making sure it’s safe for the road…and I’ve seen so many bikes over the years that should not have been on the road. So that sports bike that won’t pass MOT over there and gets sold off as a project, will get ridden for a few more years here until it’s really destroyed.

Yes at one point when Streetfighter's where getting very popular over here a lot of them was just sport bikes with twin spots and no fairing and it all got very very boring, they should of called them road rash bikes not Streetfighter's xD but I used to go to a popular bike meet and that got boring as all the bikes where the same and the only way you could tell them apart was from the number plates. O.o

  3. Don't know about bandit engines not being hammered as much as gsxr engines, the b12 was the bike to Streetfighter and Wheely everywhere at one point because they where easier to find and cheeper then a gsxr1100 MK1 more than the MK2.

Early 1052 were U703 according to the lists I've seen U704 were possibly 100hp destined for France and Germany as per EU regs of the time , GSX1100G was V718 all the other 11/1200 were designated V7?? Dependent on application

Did US or other markets have an 1100 aircooled shafty ? I know we had 650/850/1000's

For the UK market the gs1100g (2V) was a import as we only got the gs650/850/1000 but some markets had a gs750g as well as the gs1100g but this man is down under so who knows xD

Yeah, the 1100G has an 1127 based on the GSXR/1100F engine but it's a different animal altogether. There's the obvious difference for the shaft drive, but it also has a balance shaft as well as different cases and sump.

As @Duckndivesaid, pictures will help as it sounds like you might have the wrong spacers, or the right spacers in the wrong place. There's only one oil cooled shaft drive engine, and there's only one frame to suit it.

The bit that makes me think, :D (I know don't happen often) is it's in air cooled not oil cooled section and he says it's a 81 or 82 model which the gsx1100g was not out then unless some was in the process of trying to put a gsx1100g into a gs1100g  2v ?

Pictures will help of the bike and engine ;)

    What would that look like?

Get engine into frame, swap out rear wheel, uhhhh any critical pieces I'm missing to that puzzle? It wouldn't be that simple would it?

Engine, is the same as the gsx g you'd need to make engine mount brackets.

Front end, if you use bandit 12 stuff it's a stem swap and like all front ends lock stops. If you use gsxr straight swap.

Rear end, now matter what you use you will need top hats and decide if you want to keep it twin shock or single.

That's very basically it but have a look through the project section to get some ideas.
