  1. There is an article somewhere on OSS, may even be old old OSS, that originally came from the GS4 web forum that had all the details of converting an EFE to nissin 4 pots, so if EFE calipers will fit a ET then the nissin 4 pot scenario should work too. If i remember correctly it didnt require the use of adaptor plates either which should make it relatively easy. If I find it i will post it up
  2. Looks like fun do you know what the pipe is? be interested in finding out....... Jonboy
  3. I believe this & the katana motor & the EZ had 25mm dia with a 1:5 taper. The 83 on ESD with the half fairing & the 1150 motors had 29mm with a 1:7 taper. I think this sorts out the question of taper size, it would be obviously wrong. As for lapping, the amount of material you removed would be similar to lapping valves (unless you have some major digs or depressions). So, if you unsure maybe try engineers blue first to confirm where your contact points are, and probably more pertinent , where it isnt contacting and then take action from there by lapping.
  4. I would try lapping the rotor onto the taper if it were me. Wouldnt take much of a mark or dig or ding on either the rotor or the taper to stop it sitting correctly, problem too with it spinning means there may also be some marking caused by that action.
  5. 33mm Mikuni Smoothies work well on 1170 engines, bit fiddly to get the jetting etc right but worth the trouble, I think that say what now!? 1460 got it right with his comments.......
  6. Me, I would fit the trumpet forks, never liked look of USDs on older dino bikes. Also because of upper fork diameter on USDs you may find yourself with a very limited steering lock or a very dented tank. Anyway, I would choose RWU forks. Have a set of H*nda VFR on my GS1000 which look great
  7. There are 2 shapes, although technically 1 isnt a GSX as it is for the US market, the capacity differs as well
  8. ET ones are the same but later models will differ..
  9. Same tank but maybe different paint schemes.......
  10. That really is a blast from the past, OSS rules.........
  11. or even early 'R' wheels ?

  13. Markz9, love the simplicity of your rearsets. No fuss, just exactly whats needed......belly pan looks good too, always liked the 'endurance style' ones
  14. I may be wrong but I thought the GS1000 motor was taller than the GS750 giving clearance issues with top frame rail and also fuel tank(although they do fit!!) as for oil cooled variants, as Swiss Toni said smaller lighter etc.....
  15. If you cut off the lower loop you can fit gsx1100 plates and all the footrests etc but not sure if that would give you nuch difference to standard GS
  16. tis sounding more like cam chain related, didnt realise you had a 60 miler with a tight chain, good place to start.........
  17. Its a roller crank, big burly bearings they are too.......I is with Vizman on this output shaft bearing is the usual suspect

  20. GT200X5 with chrome Allspeeds and S&B filters and high and wide superbike bars in 1985, loved it as it would blast all the local LC boys away.
