So, setting up an engine for primarily street use. I would say, to quote Gixer1460 'It may make the engine a bit more tolerant on the jetting selection, but only because its not working efficiently'. Most street engines are a compromise, and as such not working to peak efficiency( i would love to have the resource to enable me to build a blueprinted tight tolerance engine). So perhaps a bit of back pressure would help with everyday street use builds if only to act as an 'efficiency compromiser'.

Get it breathing properly have no experience of modern B12 carbs etc so cant comment, but a decent large bore exhaust with an absorption type baffle (not for noise but for a little bit of back pressure) will help massively and also velocity stacks on whatever carbs you choose.......

I will be very disappointed if it is . That bike has very personal OSS history.............

Did something very similar but used a strip of spring steel held in place with large cable tiesworked a treat. Jonboy

Warp Speed Racing used to have a set in their catalogue, might be worth giving them a ring http://www.warpspeedracing.co.uk/?attachment_id=139

Did Strangewayz ever complete the build Captain? have to agree though, awesome level of engineering

Thanks for that RudemanI'll take any compliment I can get....................

I had a Marving on my ET for a while and would have to agree that it felt really flat. I did like the style of the pipe though and did have intentions of shortening the tail pipe and fitting a small diameter can. A V&H would lookk good but would be no good for a European climate

You wont like mine then although i perhaps wouldnt use the word butchered , sympathetically modified sounds soooo much better LOL

Looking good, any other plans?

Pretty sure that is the last of the 1135 aircooled variants that looks like an EFE. Hate to say it, but Google it !

When you say 'start with a pic of daily ride' , i get the impression there is more waiting to be exposed.

i was wondering if it was whitchurch in devon near tavistock? seems not then

Just remember them being fiddly, getting the balance was time consuming , maybe it was just me

33mm Mikuni smoothbores, original roundslide, perfect for gsx1100, fiddly to set up, but wonderful throttle response and also inlet port size of gsx is also 33mm giving a clean uncluttered pathway for the fuel mixture

arnt the downpipes ceramic coated? maybe just a new end can would help?

liking what your doing, just a thought, what is the likely effect of having a lighter flywheel assembly? will there be less inertial force on the crank as it spins up perhaps allowing it to rev a little quicker? and if that is the case will there be a reduction in torque ( probably negligible ) due to less rotating mass? All of these things may be irrelevant if the end result gives a more robust and more powerful ac alternator. Jonboy

Been doing some work on the 1170ET lump.......got the block on last night, just the head to go and then.............. Jonboy

Good point, also if you running a one way bearing then surely that would need to run on a ground surface as opposed to a turned finish?
-
Not sure at the mo, only stripped it far enough to discover what was wrong and then stopped. Engine is now out of frame and will be heading to a new home soon. Meanwhile, got to order some gaskets etc for top end of 1170ET lump which is going in the GSish
-
no, 1000 roller crank engine.. or did you mean replace the whole unit with a 750 one?..
-
Rebuilt crank, gaskets at the very least

One then the other, yes bummer but maybe the spur i needed to complete my 1100ET lump as a replacement ( but could have done without it)
