I was sure there was an upgrade to 4 pots. Seem to remeber it being on the the Old GS4 web forum a long time back. Will see if i can find......... Seems the Captains link may have encompassed that modification, maybe the anwer is to fit a wheel discs and calipers as shown .

If i remember rightly fuel tap position quite near back of tank and causes no clearance issue

When you say GS1100, do you mean 16valve GSX tank? if so then you will probably be OK although with 38RSs you will certainly need a Pingel tap to feed them.

16V donkey in a 78GS1000 chassis, had to use 16v mounting plates, engine mount under generator on L/H sifde of engine needs cutting off frame and new one to suit 16v engine sorting. Beware of fuel tap vs carbs.....

I am using a Kat 1000 switch unit as it is twin pull and plugged straight into loom

Dosent look like an ET to me. Wrong forks and yokes and also tank really not an ET. Thinking it some sort of GS1000 with a GSX donkey in it. Check engine mount under generator cover to see if it is a removable triangle or a welded mount. If welded and part of frame then not GSX ! Forks should be leading axle type and tank mount would be a tab welded on the underside at the back and not 2 tabs on the rear seam.

When you say con rods, do you mean small end ? i.e 18mm gudgeon pin or 20mm gudgeon pin. If there is another difference its one I havent happened across and I believe the pin size was a variation between 1075cc engines and 1135cc engines

Any help appreciated - Diagnostic/Recommendation? Suzuki GSX 1100

Side casing oil leak could be 'O' ring on starter motor, head gasket leaking!! I would check it has actually been changed. I look at this picture and the crud on the cam cover doesnt look like it has been disturbed in a long while. And perhaps the leak is coming from one of the cylinder head nuts that has an 'O'ring on it. As regards your running issue, I would perhaps look at your carbs, if the bike has been stood for 8 years the carbs will certainly need a good look and possible overhaul. 2K!! that is alot of money to spend on a repair and still end up with an oil leak . I may be wrong...........but- 15 replies

Dont restrict yourself to Suzuki running gear, there are lots of different forks out there that do a wonderful job and have a longer stanchion to start with. I have ****a VFR running gear on The GSish

Kia Ora, me knows NZ well, particularly far north up around Coopers Beach and Kaitaia. Some superb bike roads up there

Have recently cured an oil leak from the camchain tensioner with a new o ring, oil was leaking out through the tensioner, onto crankcase, down through the starter motor housing and then coming out behind front sprocket cover. Took a little to figure it

I have a GSX1100ET engine in a GS1000 frame using a modded GS1000 loom which originally had points and condensers, Dynatek unit is a bout £100 but such a better unit for older engines, big fat blue sparks
