  1. White smoke sounds like start up condensation
  2. Starter clutches can rattle a bit particularly if carbs badly out of balance. May have to pull the rotor off to check it.
  3. Was a bit windy and overcast but was still a fun day. Not many bikes but Paul waycott on his modded BKing was running high 10s/low 11s. Hoping to run myself at the next do in May
  4. Spitfire Raceway is holding a Drag'n'Drift event on 25th Feb this year, deepest Cornwall but there is a n opportunity to RWYB. Any other Cornish OSSers going? Full details on Spitfire Raceways FB page.
  5. Depending on wether you want to use Suzuki components, a front end from a H****** VFR750FV also fits well and is longer than the Suzoook offerings
  6. This looks like a restoration project? Are there any period extras planned?

    GS1000 Seat

Well the hinge and striker plate plate points look to be in the right places and it obviously has a seat trim in place, what does rthe topside look like and what do you think it came off of ?
  8. The bit of casting looks like the remains of an oil filler cap, the one that sits on top of the clutch cover.......+1 for the black shite on the strainer being clutch debris
  9. If you dont want to monoshock the rear end and stay with twin shock then another option could be to use an aluminium GSX1100ET swinger and put a GSXR1100J or K back wheel in. Swinger will probably go in with little issue, wheel will need some spacers etc sorting but will give you a relatively easy 'upgrade'.
  10. Lateral play is inherrant because of the construct of the bearing, but there is positive location in the crankcase so this goes when you build the crankcases together. Radial play, not sure I agree with a little even if that little is a few hundreths of a mm, my feeling is that if you can detect play in the bearing simply by hand examination then its on its way
  11. Nice carbs!!! will work well with big bore and cams. RF stuff is pretty decent without being OTT
  12. Why are you polishing the ports? There seem to be two schools of thought regarding this, the first would be polished to give a slippery entrance/ exit to fuel charge and subsequent exit of spent gas. The second suggests that at least on the inlet, a slightly rough cast, as in how Suzuki intended, gives turbulence to the charge and this turbulence gives a better fuel mixture distribution when the charge enters the combustion chamber. Maybe a good de coke and a deburr could be a simpler cheaper solution with potentially the same gain.....
  13. Good follow up Gammaboy, when you say its revvy is this because there is less rotating mass on the end of the crank?
  14. footrest plates are pressed steel on 750 and cast ali on 1100, forks on 1100 also have an extra adjuster on the bottom of fork leg, swingarm is steel on 750 and ali on 1100.
  15. Vapour blast head, bead blast barrels, powder coat casings in light grey and rocker cover in satin black
  16. Pictures would be good, didnt actually think that the 1100ET had any different baskets, maybe it from another model, GS1000 baskets are a similar size
  17. In my experience, most things are still available, Suzuki have recently set up a vintage suzuki spares site which may help or Alphasports or Robinsons.......
  18. Charging system is typical Suzuki with the third phase being activated by turning on the headlamp, reg/recs are the usual casualty of this but if you fit a modern mosfet unit or even a 250N unit and bypass the 3rd phase work around the lecs will be fine.
  19. Not seen it before but the colour replicates the german flag, is this an import?
  20. Yes you will, and it is.... Stronger mid range, better top end etc etc Seeing as you planning on a set of RS 36s too, be rude not to do it. If you were going to do anything else to compliment this, a set of adjustable cam sprockets are well worth the extra money to get your cam timing dialled exactly where it needs to be.
  21. Here another, Think I guty called Spata over on OSP built it, obviously not original body but deffo a Saxon.
  22. Do any of you fine chaps know what the dimensions for the fuel tap pictured are? it is a gsxr 600/750 SRAD unit, I need to know the hole centres for the mount. Hopefully will be 44mm ish. Jonboy
  23. Yes Jelly that the one
