I've no idea about the mounting rings shape or material, so apologies in advance if this is a daft question. Could they not be 3d printed?

@davecarahas been showing me some of the stuff available for creating the design files, scanning patterns etc and it's way easier now than it used to be.

Yes, it would deffo be an option. I have the resource to do this, but no idea what the originals looked like.

@Dezzado you have a picture of yours?

Same as yours, the bloody things. They tend to crack at the thinnest, weakest part of the molding but you don't need me to tell you that. Simon told me he had a few 3d printed by some bloke in France. Please count me in if having any new ones made :).

I actually got original mounting rings from a guy in France, they weren’t 3D printed. I sent him a message just after Newark as some of the guys said they needed some and I am hoping he can still supply them but I’ve not heard back from him yet. He was the same 3 years ago when I first made contact with him but he came through in the end and I did a batch purchase for 30 rings, these were all accounted for but I am happy to do another batch purchase if he can still supply them. Leave it with me and I shall chase him up.

That would be great Si. Put me down for a pair please.

Im not sure if 3D printed mounting rings would be strong enough. I could try printing one off as a test.

Some really good fillaments out there now. Carbon renforced abs would do it. It's a little pricey but still way cheaper than other options.

I was a little sceptical about 3d printed stuff for anything other than pattern making. However as @dupersuncsaid the development and range of filaments available now is very impressive with some being close to carbon fibre strength.

Really appreciate all your help on this chaps.

I'm going to persue the 3D printing route as a back up,  in case Si's man in France draws a blank.

Thanks,

Duncan

Good news guys, I have heard back from my man in France and yes he can supply still, typically he hasn’t given me a price so I have requested one from him as well as the delivery costs. When he gives me the price I shall let you all know and then we can start a list of who wants what. As per the last time I am happy to do it’s all at cost so it will be a case of per person the price per item, plus delivery share, plus import duty share and then UK delivery at cost unless you are near me in Norfolk and you can collect or we meet up nearby.

I shall probably start a new thread when I have the figures as it will open it up to the all the members so hopefully no one misses out.

Will update as soon as I have news.

OK, we are on, he can supply at £24 each complete with all fittings. Then we have a share of shipping which I am trying to get cheaper but it will be a share of £55 at the moment and then whatever import duty we end up paying, might be lucky and get away with it but be prepared. Then shipping from me to you which shouldn’t be much as the are not huge and lightweight.

SO I need numbers, I am happy to cover costs until they arrive and I can break it down fairly, even if I end up with some left over it’s no problem as there will always be someone needing them. I shall put the word out on various FB groups as well and try and get the numbers up.

maybe a good idea to email with message titled HEADLAMP RINGS  at Sicobra@me.com with how many you need and also delivery details so I can find messages easily and have everything to hand later.

I shall give it approx 2 weeks before putting in the order to give time for numbers to come in.

General consensus is... it looks shit here.

Going to mount it on the back of the subframe.

Yes that was the conclusion I came to on a previous build especially when your using a light weigh battery like also did.  Leaves room for a nice shiny oil catch tank there which does look aesthetically pleasing lol. IMG_20250222_201055.thumb.jpg.a15dd60c7b9d710c3b6f62c414d3270b.jpg
