fatblokeonbandit Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 Need to wind the motor over to check oil pressure, no oil cooler so had to make a temporary bypass pipe.. Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 Realised i need a few more bits before starting the engine, so messed about with seats again, the pad need to be 4 inches higher than it was before! 1 Quote
Gixer1460 Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 If that's where your arse needs to be - then that subframe is gonna get some MAJOR surgery. I still think the 916 seat works well / aesthetically, its padded properly .............................. and its cheap! Quote

fatblokeonbandit Posted June 4, 2017 Author Posted June 4, 2017 what?? its not going to be ridden like that, just to run the engine before i make an oil cooler Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted June 12, 2017 Author Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) finally decided on the place for the seat, its now gone off to have a new subframe made and glued on Oh yeas and anyone who actually likes the colour of the wheels, I will be flogging them when it comes back... fatblokeonbandit Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 No we are getting somewhere Next, wiring loom, need to get the b12 lump running so i can sell it as a runner, I have another 1216 and a 750 engine to try in here and the standard 1200 engine needs to go to raise some cash to finish this off.. 1 Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 A right fekin snakes wedding!!!!!! Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 24, 2017 Author Posted July 24, 2017 ight got some time in the garage, 1st priority is get some electricity to the engine and get it started I have mark 2 loom and cdi and switch gear ignition switch clocks and all, i have a mark 1 1200 engine fitted, So swoped the pick up and neutral switch so the plugs match so i dont have to cut and shut any wires, by passed the side satnd and clutch switches, and pushed the tit, nothing, nada, nicht, nowt, fekall, nothing. Got neutral and oil light and all the lights and indicators work but nothing on then start button????? so out with the spare starter solenoid, nowt, got me fluke out and started chasing my 12 volts in the starter circuit, very strange, only 5 volts down the starter wires to the solenoid, thats why it wont operate, so no clicky.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Long story short i took the rh switches from my B12 I know works and connected it to the loom with the bikes alongside, pushed the tit and solenoid clicks every time.!!! longer story even shorter took the switch gear apart and the contact in the start button was all green and corroded, a bit of emery cloth and it fires the solenoid every time now, hooo fekin ray.... 2 hours to fault find that bugger,,, tomorrow its carbs on and find some oil 4 Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 26, 2017 Author Posted July 26, 2017 (edited) Anyway, fitted a set of Mikky Roonies to try and fire it up, put some oil in it and wound over with no petrol until the oil light went out Stuck some unleaded in and wound it over, cough cough fart splutter... Pulled the choke out and tried again bang vroom,.. hoorahhh it only flippin' works, my spare b12 motor sounds excellent no smoke or rattles, so I can now flog the engine, any one need one Edited July 26, 2017 by fatblokeonbandit Quote
Dezza Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Great it works OK. I may be interested in the engine. What is it's history? Quote

It was made by Suzuki sometime between 1996 and 2000 Thast why i wanted it running as I only had the sellers words about its history, hes said it was from a 1998 1200 mark 1 with 30K miles on it, and now having had it running I dont doubt that. When i get the carbs sorted properly, one leaking from teh float bowl drain, ill get a small child with a mobile telepohone to do a video of it running 2 Quote
Dezza Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I look forward to knowing more about the motor 1 Quote

fatblokeonbandit Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 So i started cleaning the 750 motor im going to try in there. Quote
Dezza Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 How much do you want for the engine and does it come with a starter motor and alternator? Are you fitting a 750 as the bandit 12 is too tall for that Harris frame? Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 Dont know, yes, yes, probably.. I was using the b12 to make the plates, i have a 1216 to go in there eventually, but ill try the 750 and see how much extra room there is, the 12 dose fit but it makes it so difficult to fit the cabrs and exhaust, i thought id try the 750??? Quote
Dezza Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Sounds like a good idea re: the 750 as a test seeing as the frame was designed for a 750 motor, albeit a larger air-cooled one. Anyway, have you compression tested the motor you may be selling? When you decide on what you want for it send me a PM. Quote

nlovien Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 good progress - always nice to breath a bit of life into her, even though - as you note a bit of a splutter due to carb issues Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 It runs, and sounds good and just like a 1200 bandit..... apart from the blowing exhaust Quote
Dezza Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Nice demo Let me know how much when you want to sell it Quote
