paulwood Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 This is a really well thought out build Nice work 1 Quote
Reinhoud Posted December 31, 2018 Author Posted December 31, 2018 Have been busy again.. about time too Half of the crank is done now, damn it takes a lot of time, it's not real hard, just time consuming. Now I need the straight cut gears, before I can finish the crank, but other things coming up, so I'm afraid it's going to take a while again. But there's a little bit of progress. 3 Quote
Reinhoud Posted May 10, 2019 Author Posted May 10, 2019 It took a while.... But, today the straight cut gear for the crank came in, so I finally can build my crankshaft 2 Quote
Reinhoud Posted May 17, 2019 Author Posted May 17, 2019 Finally, I've finished the crankshaft... All to 0.04mm acurate, new main bearings, new big ends (the last 4 in the world I think ) 493 rods, side clearence on the rods a wee bit more as the minimum clearence according to the manual, straight cut gear. 3 Quote
Gixer1460 Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 Don't think i've heard of anyone pressing up their own crank before - good job. Bit of weld I spy on that S/C gear? Is the rest fully welded? Are you going to bother with balancing - shame not to! Quote
Reinhoud Posted May 17, 2019 Author Posted May 17, 2019 Yeah, bit of a weld on the gear, I see that on all the welded cranks, all is welded.. Not sure regarding balancing, I've been told these sort of cranks can't be balanced like it is now Quote
Gixer1460 Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 Must be possible - these cranks in ProStock motors have 14k redline - no way they aren't balanced ........... 1850cc as well! Quote
Reinhoud Posted May 18, 2019 Author Posted May 18, 2019 I'll see if I can find someone, the con-rods can be "locked" in position, so hopefully it can be done.. Quote
Duckndive Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 I was told they can only be Statically Balanced......... My understanding was that all the parts were weight matched before assembly The V&H Pro Stock rental motors only do 4 passes before a tear down............. 1 Quote

The OP has pressed up a nice crank to exacting tolerances - its straight and all the parts may be weight matched - but what about the weld dotted around the pins? Only takes a few grams to end up with a vibe monster. V&H dynamically balance their cranks - https://products.vanceandhines.com/store/suzuki/33-9113/ Quote

Reinhoud Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 Have done a bit again. Made a spacer for under the cylinders, put the turbine housing from the turbo in the right position, and modified the up pipe so it fits on the new turbo. I orderer pistons at JE, they're engineerd and paid for, so hopefully they're here in a month. Also ordered the last bearing for the crank, and a couple of seals, so the engine can be put together shortly. 7 Quote
Reinhoud Posted December 4, 2019 Author Posted December 4, 2019 Got my frame back from powder coating. I did some modifications, FPR, fuel pump and ignition module closer to each other instead everything spread out through the frame. Waiting for some engine parts, and then I can start assembling. 2 Quote

Cheeky4648 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 (edited) @Reinhoudthanks but I have 1 complete motor and a bottom end spare. In fact I’ll be selling stuff off soon as I need the room. When I get cranks built I use 494 rods. As strong if not stronger than 493 Edited December 8, 2019 by Cheeky4648 1 Quote
