clivegto Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Bit more bending with the heat gun some chopping and drilling its starting to look like it will do the job. Still needs a bit trimming near the back frame rails. 9 Quote
Wagola Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Most motocross bikes have a similar chain guide arrangement to what you have made. Might be tricky finding one thats the exact shape that suits your swing arm size and profile. But they are are available. Quote

Did look at those, cbr one was close as the jmc arm was originally designed for. This one will work fine with a couple more little tweaks as well as been harder wearing. I have a old combine harvester that has ash and oak chain runs believe it or not. 1 Quote

clivegto Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 (edited) Got some 50mm black nylon bar to remake the bottom frame rail chain protector. Was tricky to pop over the frame but managed it with a little heat, brute force and ignorance. Edited March 4, 2021 by clivegto 8 Quote

It has a ridge on it so the middle of the chain runs on that, rather than the edges of the sideplates cutting into the nylon. I can see if I can find a pic if you like. Quote

Like the one on my other Harris frame. New one will soon wear a groove if it makes much contact. 2 Quote
clivegto Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 @Dezzahave heard some people use a jubilee clip to secure it then when it's worn down a bit slaken it of to move it round a bit. Quote

I suppose that would work but mine is pretty secure when fitted but also fairly easy to take off and put back on. I am a bit puzzled by whoever had your frame before painiting the nylon protector red though. Quote
