Rat Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 G'day, Ive recently bought an F model and it needs a lot of tlc to get it running again. I was told the carbys need re-kitted, are the kits readily available? It hasnt been started for a number of years, so I'd like some info with whats needed to get the beast going. I usually ride a blue colour and familiar with bike mechanics. Cheers. 1 Quote
Captain Chaos Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Hi and welcome to OSS. If you mean a GSX1100F as in Powerscreen then it is oilcooled. I'll move this to the right section. Quote
Rat Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 sorry.... im still new..treat me gently ....please Quote
MrS819 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Great another powerscreen project. Looking forward for this one to! Quote
wraith Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Welcome to oss, good bottom end torque motors the gsx1100f, very similar to the gsxr1100 motors but with 34mm carbs and softer more bottom end cams, a lot of the gsxr bits will fit the gsxr motors carb, cams, zorst downpipes etc. You can get carb refurbishment kits off flybay or give rodinson a bell for the better oem seals and you get 10% off with them, when you tell them your a oss member Quote
Oilyspanner Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Welcome aboard ! I would give the old girl a good going through before starting - oil, filter, plugs, valve clearances and check the carbs' small orifices are clear and give them a good clean. It sounds like the bike has pod filters fitted if the last owner said it might need a kit - that or the carbs were just playing misbehaving ! Like the guys have said, the GSX1100F motor is a lovely unit and the world's your mollusc as far as enhancements go. Quote
Rat Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 Also I need an new fuel tap, the seals have dried out in the vacuum unit. Is it wise to change it to a non-vacuum unit and where can I buy it from? Fleabay is the option I have as Im a bit too far from the UK.. Quote

bruteforce Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 They're actually quite nice bikes, very fast and torquey. They are quite heavy but this only shows if you treat them like you would a sportsbike. Nice find! Quote
Rat Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 thanks for the replies!! It will be a resto, nothing serious....just a bit of fun Quote
