SiBag Posted Tuesday at 03:48 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:48 PM Oh wise and noble town folk of OSS. Dumb question time. Whate the differences between the TL and the SV power plants, injectors etc. ? Or are the basically the same engine? Cheers. 1 Quote
Rncv Posted Tuesday at 04:18 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:18 PM From memory TL has higher compression than the SV, not sure what else. Quote

gsx Posted Tuesday at 06:34 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:34 PM That's a really good question but both shockingly cheep now , b and b in Lincoln got a mint tl for 2.5 Quote
DAZ Posted Tuesday at 07:12 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:12 PM (edited) I believe the tl has different clutch ( better) than the sv/ Vstrom and the crankcase has difference too apparently the rear engine mounts are different(wider?) , sv and Vstrom being the same design Edited Tuesday at 07:21 PM by DAZ Addition Quote
TLRS Posted Tuesday at 10:04 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:04 PM There are lots of differences, big and small. For instance, the TLS/TLR and SV all have their own injection system. Any specific information you are looking for? Quote
baldrick Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago ive ridden both, the tl engine is miles better. the sv feels like a sanitised restricted version of the tl . 2 Quote

TLRS Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Had a '97 one. Had some clutch issues so changed the springs (early 5 spring clutch) which helped a lot. Then one day I gave it some and either the back torque limiter thingy in the clutch slipped or the wheel slipped.. something grabbed pretty firmly. Mag wheel with minimal cush probably didn't help. Anywho, engine didn't feel happy after that.. rode it some more.. maybe 50 miles. Tore into the engine and noticed the big end had sheared about 3/4 of the way around 1 Quote
