750j project questions

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a streetfightered 750j as a little bit of a project it's fitted with fibreglass seat unit and GSXR1000 front end

Will a GSXR1000 rear wheel fit rather than having mismatched wheels

Does the subframe look like it would accept original panels

Does the battery look like it would be in the way of refitting the original air box?

1000 is a 6 inch rim. You could get a matched wheel with a 5.5 inch rim from a 600 (or 750???) and it would probably be much easier to fit as you'd be presented with fewer chain clearance problems.

By the looks of things the previous owner took it for an Mot, it failed and by the time he sorted the bits it failed on there was a running issue, took the carbs off and was left sitting. My plan are to repaint it and carbs are currently sat stripped awaiting new seals and a good clean

The seat panel fitting have been chopped of the tank so looks like I'm keeping as it is, the rear light is some 1990 m&p special so looking at rear light options, does the original rear light mount direct to the frame with the bracket or does it fit to the undertray? Thanks

Buy yourself a manual matey it will answer a lot of the simpler questions you have far quicker than waiting for a response on here sometimes.

5.5 or 6 inch K rim will both fit the same, they both have that largely offset to the left rim center which is a bit of a job to sort out in an OSS but perfectly possible.

6 inch rim = more risk of chain to tyre contact though, so stick to a 5.5 600/750 rim like mentioned previously
