Hardassfunk Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Just picked up a streetfightered 750j as a little bit of a project it's fitted with fibreglass seat unit and GSXR1000 front end Will a GSXR1000 rear wheel fit rather than having mismatched wheels Does the subframe look like it would accept original panels Does the battery look like it would be in the way of refitting the original air box? Quote
Wee Man Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Is that battery tray/holder setup welded or bolted to the subframe? If bolted, you could just ditch it, fit an OEM battery holder etc and airbox will go on. Quote
Dezza Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) 1000 is a 6 inch rim. You could get a matched wheel with a 5.5 inch rim from a 600 (or 750???) and it would probably be much easier to fit as you'd be presented with fewer chain clearance problems. Edited March 31 by Dezza Quote
Hardassfunk Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 Yup all bolted on, I'm in two minds to just respray or replace the tank and seat panels for standard, guess I'll get it running first see how it runs on the individual filters 1 Quote
wobblegob Posted March 31 Posted March 31 youll need to move the shock remote res as well, but looks like it will take the standard bodywork Quote
KennyKak Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I nearly bought that bike 3 years or so ago. Your best bet is to see if the same year 600/750 wheel matches as the slimmer wheel has more chance of fitting your swing arm Quote
Hardassfunk Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 By the looks of things the previous owner took it for an Mot, it failed and by the time he sorted the bits it failed on there was a running issue, took the carbs off and was left sitting. My plan are to repaint it and carbs are currently sat stripped awaiting new seals and a good clean Quote
Hardassfunk Posted April 14 Author Posted April 14 The seat panel fitting have been chopped of the tank so looks like I'm keeping as it is, the rear light is some 1990 m&p special so looking at rear light options, does the original rear light mount direct to the frame with the bracket or does it fit to the undertray? Thanks Quote

Joseph Posted April 15 Posted April 15 5.5 or 6 inch K rim will both fit the same, they both have that largely offset to the left rim center which is a bit of a job to sort out in an OSS but perfectly possible. 6 inch rim = more risk of chain to tyre contact though, so stick to a 5.5 600/750 rim like mentioned previously Quote
