busa1300 Posted October 6, 2023 Author Posted October 6, 2023 (edited) Trying to get motivated, and start working on the TS again… …mounted tires onto the wheels, and balanced and trued them up. Fit them to bike to verify that I have clearance for chain and front brake torque arm. New Mikuni 34mm carb, NOS cables, and bike specific jets, to replace the 32 High end dual spark ignition to basically replace just about all the electrics, gain peace of mind along with more HP. I think you're gonna love the Jemco. I've used their products for years on a race bike. Very cool 2 Quote

busa1300 Posted October 30, 2023 Author Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) Soda blasted the cases and cylinder today. Trying to decide if I want the engine all black as original, or to polish out all the covers, and edges of the fins to brighten up bike a little. need to make a new bracket for the exhaust also, now that I know exactly where it fits up to. Also got all my trans bearings and seals, and my gaskets should be here by the weekend. Edited October 30, 2023 by busa1300 4 Quote
Safra Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Gold anodized wheels or gloss black with polished stainless spokes would look quite nice with both a silver or semi gloss black engine. Not that there is anything wrong with how it looks currently keep up the good work. 1 Quote
Wagola Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Personally I'd go black with the engine to give it a bit more of a stealth look. With matching black frame. Starting to take shape now and looking good. 1 Quote
TonyGee Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 my choice would be a black engine, but the bike looks great 2 Quote
busa1300 Posted November 11, 2023 Author Posted November 11, 2023 I think I’m going with this look….with the covers polished like the hubs. Next step is to totally disassemble the bike, and begin the rebuild now that I know where I’m going with it, and have enough parts for the rebuild to start. _________________ 10 Quote
DAZ Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Nice to see this, love a two stroke, the noise, the on/off powerband, the smell, if this went past me on the street my nose would be twitching like let's go Brandon in a girls school ..... 1 Quote

busa1300 Posted December 24, 2023 Author Posted December 24, 2023 My Ikon shocks showed up earlier than expected and became a nice Christmas present Have a couple weeks off work for shutdown, so I’ll be getting the bike stripped to bare frame soon now. 3 Quote
busa1300 Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Took my frame/swingarm to get sandblasted this past Thursday. A shop around the block from where I work, does industrial powder coating…and sandblasting on the side. Will be a few weeks till it comes up on its cue, and then I will take it to work and get the bits painted. Also was able, after about a 6 month search, to find an aluminum lower triple clamp from a 74 TM400… to replace the bent heavy steel original from the TS… 4 Quote
busa1300 Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 (edited) Brought frame back from the sandblaster and put some paint on it yesterday. I used a polyuroxy black primer and then clear coated it with about 10% flatner to give it the right factory look. busa1300 Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 Thanks guys I am taking much longer than I had ever expected on this particular project. I seem to find myself just staring and thinking more than building as I get older…but it will get finished. 1 Quote

busa1300 Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 Got new fork tubes a few weeks ago, to replace the bent originals. Then I got my emulators to modernize the ancient forks New tapered head bearings installed With the added emulator parts, and the 1.5 inch drop spacer, I had to cut my springs to get the right preload. Bike now sets level, instead of the nose high attitude most dirt bikes have. Now it’s time to get serious about the rebuild of the engine. 8 Quote
