Swiss Toni Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Would an 1100 Aircooled engine fit into a GS550 frame, or is an oil boiler an easier option? 2 Quote

I would think it'll be tight Toni !!!! an oil cooled engine would be a better bet. but only guessing my mate squeezed a B12 engine in a Kat 400 frame but had to modify it. anything is possible 2 Quote
wraith Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Basically 1100 air cooled will not fit. You will need to do some very havey mods to the frame/engine cradle to make it fit. Had a look one time at putting a gsx750et engine in a gs550 and it was no where near. A gsxr1052 goes in well tite but they fit, the 1127/1157 engines will go but once in you can't get the cam cover off. Done both in the past. 4 Quote

I'm pretty sure there's a guy, he might be on OSS, who put a GSX1100 and later an oil boiler in a GS550 frame. @bruteforce, wasn't that you? Edited March 24, 2022 by Reinhoud Quote
johnr Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 guy in the kat club fitted a 600 bandit motor into his mrs's 550 kat, looks like it was supposed to be in there. plenty of 600 motors about for next to nothing. 1 Quote
Mike711 Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Not sure how close the 550 frame is to 750 but the 1100 A/C engine fits easily in a 750. Quote
