Swiss Toni Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 This foam bollocks inside the sprocket cover? Is it worth leaving it in? Does it actually work? It seems to just be a shite magnet! Quote
eddiegsx Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I'd fill a good sized bin with the amount I've ditched over the years, as you said Toni, just collects shite. Quote
rodneya Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I dont even want to touch the inside of mine its so disgusting. I think a billet cover one will be on the shopping list at some point Quote
wraith Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 My old gs1000 had this stuff in at first, I removed it and didn't notice anything, then cut out some of the sprocket cover and didn't notice anything. Think if you have a mega quite exhaust, you will notice the wait loss more then the sound Quote

agemax Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 Its not there just for sound deadening, its also there to absorb the impact should your chain, and or front sprocket decides to break and try and smash its way through the cover. A snapped chain will potentially smash a big hole in the crankcase. Quote

It will and if you think a bit of polyurethane foam, that isn't directly in the firing line of a 630 chain travelling at 100mph, will do any good in that respect, you best buy a lottery ticket! 1 Quote

I was thinking the same thing, although I'd imagine that it would have some effect at lower speeds but having said that I'll take my chances and rip it out. Quote
