Naim Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Anyone can tell me what's the safe operating oil temperature? Readings on my 1200 Zuma as follows: - 90-95 dgrs celsius when very delicate with throttle. - 115 dgrs when I push it hard (today outside was around 12 dgrs - 110 dgrs when I let it idle for around 20-30min. 12 dgrs outside also Do you think that these values are within standard readings? Captain Chaos Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 How did you measure the temperatures? Readings vary strongly between different quality temp gauges 1 Quote
Naim Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 I have a gauge on clutch cover. I already checked it in boiling water, readings are quite accurate. Quote
Gixer1460 Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 These gauges are 'ok' but rely on splash only to read oil temps and so have limited response - more accuracy if sensor tip was submerged like the electric ones. Nevertheless the temps don't seem unreasonable! Quote
Duckndive Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 The yoshi set up has sender in sump...... Quote
Naim Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 Thanks a lot guys! I was a bit concerned after changing clutch pads that high temperature was causing it to slip but most probably it was crappy EBC pads. I got the OEM set now and it seems to be a lot better :-) Quote
george 1100 Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Today at the track with air temp at 25c mine never went over 100c. It sat around 97/98 during all sessions whilst receiving a severe flogging. Only once did it get up to 125 when they held us at the start for 5 mnutes. I have a Koso guage with sensor in the oil gallery bottom rhs Quote

Not with the current engine as it is basically standard, but will with the new engine. I've mounted the head cooler and working out the plumbing but not need to connect it yet. Running a standard slabby cooler atm Edited October 11, 2020 by george 1100 1 Quote
