wraith Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 (edited) Told you you'd start something asking this question This topic should be banned on here, everyone has their own opinion on what is right, and the only correct answer is mine - and I'm keeping it to myself Edited July 12, 2020 by wraith 1 Quote
akronos Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 Why this did chain 530 with 130 link are so cheap?! Are a fake did chain? Quote
CockneyRick Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Could be end of stock etc etc, but i'd be the same & say fake Quote
Jonny Bravo Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 530 conversion on my Gs1000e weighs in at 2.965 kg. That's 15 43 gearing with alloy Renthal rear and 10mm offset Talon front sprocket with Renthal R4 chain. Not Gsx I know but near as dammit Quote
Poldark Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Racing? Every bit of weight savings makes a difference. I don't race, so minute weight savings are negligible. I'm working on getting a neglected 82 GS750E (GSX750) running. The 630 chain was in questionable condition, but the sprockets looked fine. A 630 chain went on and now I spend time and money sorting out other problems. If it needed new sprockets too, I would have gone to 530. Some of us like the look of the big chain, others don't. Your time and money is going into your bike, you decide. 530, 525, and 520 will all look the same from the side view; only from behind can you tell the difference. Theoretically, the narrow chains should have shorter service life due to reduced contact area, but I don't know how that plays out in the real world. Quote
akronos Posted July 13, 2020 Author Posted July 13, 2020 How many links for 530 chain with 17/45 or 18/45 ? Quote

Front sprocket to clear the rear rim and the rest because why not Completely agree with you to use up what you've got first and deal with other things . I did that when I built my Harrisish first time Quote
akronos Posted July 15, 2020 Author Posted July 15, 2020 Are 120 links enough for 17-45 or 18-45? Quote

Never tryed a 525 might give it a go next time I need chain and sprockets. Any chance you could tell me what chain to frame clearance you had on the kat with the 1100f motor please cheers Quote
wraith Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Not a lot, 3mm with the 520 chain. With the 530 you are rubbing the frame. With the 520 and 3mm clearance I've not had it rubbing. Quote
Prime Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Again diamond thanks helped me a bit more regarding my question on your post thanks Quote
