dago Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Re tap it as your going to have to drill and tap it any way for a helicoil or timesert depending on availability of right size sump plug Quote
manden Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Start by tapping it. Then put in an wurth rethread insert. Dunno the English name for them Quote
dupersunc Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 Wurth do a spark plug thread repair kit that is the right size thread for a gsxr sump plug. its a copper alloy version of a timesert. they work a treat. Quote
ibrakeformoose Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 I'm with dupersunc, just done one using a spark plug repair kit using a Timesert.. A bit more time-consuming to get it sitting just right, but well worth the effort. Quote

More surprising is I actually have that Tap from another one off job. Trip to the local speed shop and $6 later. 3 Quote
Swiss Toni Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 You'll have to go carefull if you're thinking about using NPT plug. It's tapered. Over tightening will crack the sump. More trouble! Go with the Wurth stuff, as the boys say. Better idea, better job! 1 Quote
Lachie04 Posted February 18, 2020 Author Posted February 18, 2020 (edited) Gotta trust yourself. 1/8 - 1/4 turn is good to lock it in as tight as a nuns nasty Bad things happen when numpities overtighten lots of things eh!!! Edited February 18, 2020 by Lachie04 Quote
