Gixxerm8 Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Ok boys and girls 1052 motor with std clutch servo cover. If I change this cover to the bandit one. The one with the speedo pickup on it what els do I need to fit for this to work a digital speedo. Or will this not work Quote
Katana Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 as the shaft is hardened its not easy to drill and tap to pot the bandit pick up on i know some have but I know of some one that made a sprocket nut with a pick up on end of it Quote
zedhead Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I welded the castellated washer that normally bolts onto the shaft end onto a standard nut. It worked, for a bit, and then fell off...Have tried drilling the end of the shaft but as it's harder than a parson's stools I've never managed to succeed. So, at the moment, the 'Slimfast Bandit' has no speedo. SWMBO has said that she's bored of having no speedo, so it's a job to add to the list again... 1 Quote
gsxr884 Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Try a cobalt drill bit run very slowly, Hippy Mick did his 7/11 shaft not so long ago without to much grief 1 Quote
zedhead Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Cheers Rich, I'll have another go with a cobalt bit, and let you know the outcome (probably snapping the bit off in the shaft, or maybe snapping the tap off when I tap it after...) Quote
SiBag Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Is that a B6 cover your using or the B12 with the hydo clutch slave ? Quote
Vinchentti Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 If its 1052 CC motor the end of the final drive shaft has a threaded hole in the end . ive done this conversion . you,ll need gsrxr digital clocks or bandit clocks and the correct clock loom (important) plus a speedo rotor and pick up and obviously a clutch casing . i used my slabby original clutch cover and drilled it. ive done the same conversion on my mates harris 2 with bandit 1200 engine . We used a 15mm plumming compression fitting nut and liqiud metal to attach speedo rotor to the compression fitting nut. You just screw it on to drive shaft . Theres just enough thread showing to hold compression nut on plus some lock tight !lol Both speedos work a treat . and no drilling 1 Quote

jonny1bump Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Carbide drill will go through every time, just be gentle they very brittle. As stated above get through case your have no problem. Quote
jonny1bump Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 With what ever speedo you use you need to check in coming voltage the bandit sensor is quite specific with what it needs I have some notes some where will have post up the wiring perhaps that can go in vaults too. Quote
jonny1bump Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I used bandit block put put in 12 volt metal panel sensor inside it which designed for industrial stud machine then used resistors to bring voltage down to 5 volts which the particular speedo requires. They all quite different so be careful. Quote
gray711 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 If you don't want to go down the drilling route then I do believe a Kwak zx10r sprocket nut (can I mention that??) has an integrated sensor. Can't remember which years mind .... Quote
jonny1bump Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Actually looking at wiring the bandit is simply 12 volt feed in earth and signal feed out. Not sure what feed voltage is out and colors my notes are un clear on this. Quote

Can't remember which years mind ....I have installed a Kwak sprocket nut onto a GSX1100ET transmission. I would imagine that you could do the same on your oil boiler. Quote
Alrick Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I just put a sensor on the back wheel disc, routed the cable with the brake line, works well Quote
Rossco(Iceman Josros) Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I just put a sensor on the back wheel disc, routed the cable with the brake line, works wellusing what clocks?? Quote
Alrick Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I used a motogadget mini clock. Just prog in tyre size and it's set Quote
jamie k Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Most digi speedos have a compatible wire for wheel/ brake sensor iv used a few different ones in the past with no real fuss Quote
Earle Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Ok all I've thought off the same thing about speedo. And I am just going to put my iPhone on my top York and uses Hud awesome app does all speed speed limit and compass. Just a bit easier. It ok fitting the drive pick up. But then wiring start to do your head in. It just a simple way off doing it. That if you have a iPhone but you may be abel to get it on diff phone regards Earle Quote
