baldrick Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 hello, im in the process of training my slave child to replace shocks (its much easier than doing it yourself, and little fingers are great for finding relay bolts etc.). hes wondering where to relocate the starter relay etc from the underside of the battery box to? hes not up to soldering yet, so somewhere he doesn't have to chop the wires out preferably. Where have you all put yours? pictures are good. cheers Quote

clivegto Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 Can you not fasten a plate to the frame to mount them to. All my stuff is in the seat unit or under the seat. 1 Quote
dupersunc Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 I'm going to make a plate that sits where the airbox did on mine. 1 Quote

Sort of limits your options then to wherever the wires will reach - Its a lot easier if you extend the wires - not particularly the big battery ones just the smaller gauge ones! Mine always live close to that battery wherever that happens to be! 1 Quote
baldrick Posted November 10, 2019 Author Posted November 10, 2019 yeah I think you are right. im keeping the airbox, M models are a huge pain in the arse to set up properly without it. I will pull it all round to the left hand side I(as you sit on the bike think and mount it, and just extend the thinner cables. Think it will be on the front of the battery box to save it getting covered in road crud etc. thanks for your help Quote
Captain Chaos Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 I once had the starter relay mounted on top of the airbox, under the tank. Sidestand relay and pop out fuse thingy were removed from the loom. Under the battery was now nice and empty. 1 Quote
Oilyspanner Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 I shifted mine to the inside left of the plastic outer shroud around the battery tray/box - although I made a light ally battery box for the Li battery, so don't know if there's room beside the standard box/tray/holder/thing ! I'll see if I can take a photo later. 1 Quote
Oilyspanner Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 You can barely see it Mr B, but it's down below the positive terminal, fairly snug and secured to the plastic shroud/cover/surround. 1 Quote
baldrick Posted November 12, 2019 Author Posted November 12, 2019 (edited) Thanks mate, I know the gap you are on about. between battery box and surrounding plastic shroud.. Top right of the pic below. that 'was one of the locations where I was looking to put mine. The surround is quite flimsy so I think I will make a lightweight bracket to mount it off.
