Captain Chaos Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 f*ck yeah.Maybe it's the picture, but I didn't know Ducati Monsters were that compact. 1 Quote
Hayabuser Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 Installed a new clutch cable today (old one was a touch stiff), along with some new rubber grommets to hold the frame sidecovers on... don't want that freshly painted one (or the original one, for that matter) to abandon ship somewhere out on the road! Popped the seat on and wheeled the bike off of my workbench... it's finished! More or less.... Tires are still an issue as I always put fresh rubber on new acquisitions that I plan to keep... which is why I haven't pulled the trigger on them yet as I'm not sure if this GS is staying. I'll have to see if I enjoy the ride on a stock machine, I've never ridden any stock GS's besides my two Katana 1100's, and those are not your typical UJM's like the GS11 is. I need to take it out to snap some pictures for my insurance company so I should have a chance to get a feel for it when I do that. Stay tuned! Quote
Hayabuser Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Short ride today... ... brakes are horrible but it runs like a raped ape! 1 Quote
Hayabuser Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 (edited) Longer ride today, brakes are bedding in and are showing signs of slowing the bike down. Really nice machine to cruise around on, I like it! Edited December 30, 2015 by Hayabuser 1 Quote

Dukeman Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Very cool, I like the Back to Black snake oil... going to try and find some of that! Quote
Hayabuser Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Finally got around to buying new tires for the GS, BT45's are one of my all-time favourite tires for these old bikes. My '82 Katana could really carve on these tires! Installing them on Saturday so I got her ready for the transplant... ... she can fly! Quote
Hayabuser Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 Felt like having a GS on the Rocks. So I did. 2 Quote

I live in a scenic area of the country and try to share that. On a related topic, this bike has sold. New owner is in Seattle and will be coming in a couple weeks to pick her up. Best part, he's already paid me! The only thing remaining is what do I buy next? Quote

Hayabuser Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 I took the '83 1100 out for its last ride this morning before her new caretaker arrives Saturday to take her home. I'll miss her but am already looking forward to the next one... whatever she'll be! 1 Quote

Hayabuser Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 I am looking deeper into an '86 GS1150ES that I checked out over the winter... $500 and it runs. The ES though, yuck. Wondering how hard to make it an E.... Quote
Captain Chaos Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 basically you need a headlight shell, headlight mounting brackets, speedo mounting bracket and handlebars. Again: buy now, think later. Quote
