EFE powder coating

Hi Guys, I have just collected all the bits back from the powder coaters for my EFE build. Here are some pictures.

The red is a light wrinkle/ crackle finish.

Not sure of colour, I am seeing the powder coaters this week, I will ask. They are lacquered over the top of the powder coat. Powder coaters are 25 miles away.

What's the black piece next to the footrest hangers? Not familiar. Unless it's a cut off piece of hanger? What's it's use?

Hi Toni, not sure which piece you are referring to, top left piece is part of rear suspension linkage, bottom left is front engine mount bracket, middle right is alloy bracket which holds foot peg at bottom of the frame rail.

As you said it looks like a piece cut off a footrest hanger, the back of the hanger below in the photo matches it perfectly. had me puzzled too.

@inazumarobThe piece directly below the TSCC emblem on the cam cover. Did you buy the bike in boxes, by any chance? Might have been a modification by the PO?

I think that it is standard part Toni, I think that there is one on the other frame that I have. I will look properly next time down at garage I am renting. Not near where I live, may be tomorrow.  I bought a rolling chassis complete and part was on there already, it was a while ago since I took it apart, so need to look at other frame.

Looks like the PO cropped the pillion part of the left hand hanger off, more likely.

1. I spoke to the powder coaters about the gold on the wheels. He said it was a non standard custom colour that he made up for me to brighten it up.

He has some left if any one wants something in the same colour.

2. I want to get an EFE clutch cover powder coated, but I need to remove the oil level window and the clutch shaft in the cover as heat will ruin the rubber parts. Has any one got any tips about doing this please.

Find a socket slightly smaller than the glass, push the glass from the outside. Push, nice steady pressure ... it'll move.

Got the glass out, held in with a smear of silicone, so had to clean that off. Used a big socket on one side and a g clamp with a smaller socket to push glass out. Clutch shaft and bearings just tapped out once I removed top seal.

Due to time restraints, and trying to save some money for things with a higher priority, I have cleaned up the rear caliper and painted it myself. I decided that any money I saved could be better used elsewhere. Caliper bodies were soaked in Harpic Plus 10 to loosen paint, cleaned and then resoaked overnight to clean out corrosion. Painted then lacquered, I will have to see how well it stands up on use.

What colour Gold, Rob? I used Ford Harvest Gold.

Not much paint or laquer stands up to brake fluid but I’ve had good results with VHT caliper paint. The satin black looks great but they don’t do a gold.

Started putting together the brake caliper now the rebuild kit arrived. Had to replace 1 piston anyway due to corrosion.
