  1. That one time you accidently invent time travel!
  2. Clip on's on my ET ( complete early R1 front end). Much more comfortable than straight bars, and way more feel than shitty renthals. Im also a old fart but can easily ride more hours with clip ons and often find myself throwing the bike about that little bit more.
  3. If everything else is great on it, and you dont mind working out some different spacers, then its not too big a deal. But yeah its a bit annoying when you want a longer arm, and then get a longer arm, but with a new problem. I cant see 2mm being a huge problem, and hey a tleast you are savvy enough to have noticed it, many wouldnt.
  4. If you want someone else to do the prep work too, just take the whole bike to Dave at FBM, and let him do the lot. Absolutely faultless work, and never heard a bad word said about him. Do it right first time instead of going with a 'budget' option.
  5. Just my thoughts, but if the new arm has caused you wheel alignment problems, then me personally id be taking the arm back. I had a similar problem way back when i had JMC make me a arm, yes i took a gamble as for every good arm they made, they made a shit arm. Unfortunately they made me a shit one, wheel alignment was way out, so i took it back, 3 months later after pointing out i was seriously losing patience they sent me another, wheel alignment was great, but the pivot was now 30mm too wide for the frame. I gave up and went to Spondon like i should of in the first place.
  6. Anything the right length will work, probably best from a similar weight bike such as SV650
  7. Surely if you already have the arm, then the best way to see if it works is to try it? But from memory you will need to sleeve the gsxr pivot, and sort out some dogbones. (and offset sprocket if you are using busa wheel) Cant remember if the shock lines up or not.
  8. Thats a great looking bike, and quick!
  9. I helped him lift the motor out the van and couldnt believe how light it was! I'll see what i can do pics and info wise.
  10. A friend of mine has a Gsx600F that he's in the process of putting a Gsxr1000 engine in. Should surprise a few people.
  11. I think there was a fella on one of the older OSS sites called Pete who had a very well tuned up gsx750, cant remember what it was putting out but it was a lot more than standard.
  12. Would of thought your best bet would be the 810 kit if they still do it? and a good porting job. Though i wonder if you could fit a gsxr750 head? seeing as you can fit the gsxr1100 head to the 1100 air cooled lump. Defo more fun than going the easy but dull route of fitting a different engine.
  13. Whats a rough ballpark figure for the crank welding? I have a spare ET motor i have the urge to stick some Nitrous through.
  14. Thats nice! always good to see something a bit different, air cooled lump and supercharger is a great combo.
  15. The oil cooled motor is the only good bit, not sure what you'd gain by getting rid of it.
  16. Is it a track bike or a drag bike? How much power are you putting through it? They tend to be pretty tough gearboxes are they are.
  17. Lovely bike. i had one in the early 90's, and one summer it took me from the UK to Greece via Portugal, and back, with no problems at all. (other than me getting heatstroke about 10 times!)
  18. Will they not soften if you leave them in warm/hot water for a while?

No, but unless you are going to turn the head around theres not much you can do about that other than such inventions as heatshields, cool air feeds etc.. Otherwise its a bit like scuba diving with a air feed coming from your bumhole, might be your kind of thing, but not mine.

Did you replace with the same oil? Ive seen stuff smoke more after mineral was replaced by synthetic, and its started burning a load of shite out. Or did you over fill it a tiny bit? I wouldnt vent back into the intake, engines love cool air.
  21. It really depends on the frame, something with less rake is always going to be tight. A friend of mine with a slabbie turbo has a simple trick, to get good clearance on his front mount he just taped a section of 1.5" thick foam pipe insulation to the front tyre while he put it together. Never had any problems.

Indeed, ive never had a breather on anything without one.

I used to run crankcase breathers into the exhaust, less pressure inside the motor the better. As for carbs the colder the better, the big green K had this to a tee with the air box feeds out front. Heatshield and if you can make em fit, so of those Yoshimura style air ducts work well.
  24. 2 of those 5" lights would do the trick. Maybe its the lack of mudguard thats throwing off how everything will sit? I think if you stuck a load of lights on it would look like a load of lights with a motorcycle attached, just too much. I always think with specials, and even more so trick frame specials, that these no need for anything 'showy', they should look like they are here to do a job.
  25. That is perfect, no tinsel and bullshit. Outstanding.
