Battery seems dead after charge?
strima replied to Jpich85's topic in Water Cooled, V-Twins, Singles and 2-strokes
If its a standard lead acid then the plates may have sulphated. If you have access to a CTEK/Optimate etc that has a desulphate cycle on it that would be worth a go. Do you have a multimeter that you can check it with? If so put a load on it such as a headlight and measure the voltage over 30 seconds, the voltage on a good battery should not drop below 11.5 volts. If you can stand the noise a horn is an even better load to put on as it will make the battery work harder. -

I got some generic caliper paint off eBlag and it's turned out well. Two coats, self priming. I know their not Suzuki but this shows how it came out.

She looks fucking lovely, top job!!!

850 shafty mate, spokes are like hens teeth...

Call me old fashioned but I think bikes of that era look much better with spokes, shame I can't source any for my GS850... Shame about the tank but could it be repaired?

If you can build a small wall around the base using putty and fill with diesel and let it soak for a few days, again patience is your friend on this method. If you need a quicker fix weld a nut just above the case, this will give you something to get a better grip with and the heat should help loosen things up a bit.

Now that is a thing of beauty. How can I get excited over some inanimate bits of metal???

Just wire it all in black, makes fault finding much more fun...

I've used VWP for years and they do some good quality stuff unlike the eblag specials.

I have seen repairs done with cable ties and a soldering iron. Basically a similar method to welding but using the iron for heat and the cable tie as a filler rod. I have tried it before with limited success, with practice it would make decent enough repair. I do like the MEK idea.

Fucking lucky there's no other damage!!!

I used stainless studs and nuts on mine with no issues.

I have a 30mm spacer in the top of each fork leg and have no problems with them.

This is one of mine after 32 years, although it looks like someone tried some silicone in the past...

Send them back and get a refund, mine on the GS850 split after 32 years so I would expect them to last longer than six months.

I'm not a fan of your footwear choice...

Yes.

Have you double checked your timing?

Personally I'd strip and clean the brakes just to be sure, also replace those rubber hoses. Cracking looking bike though!!!

Have you tried a mineral oil rather than synthetic?
