  1. Does anyone recognize these valves or seen them before in an 1100 oil cooled appear to be standard sizes but have I 1C and E1C on the face, are they standard or after market ??.
  2. More or less the same gearbox as a 750 slabby but with a lower first gear.
  3. I do like the 1100 frame over the 750 but I don't think there is any real problems with the 750 , they do get a bit lively though when you put an 1100 engine in one.
  4. I have owned and raced gsxr's from the beginning in 1985, these are just some random pictures that I already had on the computer. the number 17 yellow plate was my first the photo was taken during the 1986 senior manx gp at ballacrye jump that's as fast as you can get to it in top. I have raced in the manx over a 30 year period starting in 1980 and my last ride being the 2010 classic superbike race of which I finished 3rd that's the picture with three bikes lined up 72.73.79 that's Mark Buckley sadly now dead Michael Dunlop and my bike 79 this was the best finish that I had in the manx but with the manx now being overrun with TT riders I decided it was time to stop. after a year or so of getting bored just watching I decided to build another bike for the classic TT as its now called , the bike I built is the blue one in the pictures number 50.33.32 the idea was to put something together that was not going to break the bank but would be a good reliable ride , well three classic TT's two pre TT races and three seasons using it at Aintree without any serious mishaps it seems to have done that. the bike has 1166 j-e piston kit 6 speed gearbox r6 forks and brakes ohlins rear suspension 38mm carbs, the rider is Dennis Booth from Ballamena northern Ireland. that's Dennis standing by the bike with his wife and daughter if you look closely you can see the silver replica on the tank, last year this bike was the 4th Suzuki to finish in the classic superbike race the three in front where Michael Dunlop xr69 team classic Suzuki York, Gary Johnson xr69 team classic Suzuki York and Danny Webb xr 69 team classic Suzuki York this team is supported by Suzuki GB . so my bike was the first standard framed gsxr to finish. Dennis finished 12th wth a fastest lap of 115.38 mph lap this must be getting near to the fastest lap an 1100 slabby has done. We are going back again this year to see what we can do this time, I am at the moment building another engine hopefully it will be as good as the first but maybe a bit quicker. The skoal bike was built as a spare bike it is much the same spec as the blue one but Dean painted it skoal bandit as a tribute to smutty Robinson . This bike I lent to Gavin Lupton at last years classic TT sadly he had fuel starvation problems but still lapped at over 114mph from a standing start.
  5. Just noticed this is in the watercooled section, sorry about that.
  6. Just use a quality drill , all of my 1100s are 6 speed I just use some old imperial drills that were made in England.
  7. But if you drill holes that's reducing the surface area.
  8. So how does drilling holes in the cases and such help cooling?. I would have thought less metal would get hot quicker .
  9. just wondering if they were the same length as gsxr 1100
  10. Does anyone know the conrod length of standard RF 900 from centre to centre thanks.
  11. I think you may have trouble with the dot head in your frame. i built a 1166 engine with a dot head a few years back fitted it in the frame 1100H came to fit the carbs and no way were they ever going to fit without altering the frame. the carbs were 36 rs mikuni though . i did offer up a set of cv's and they would not fit either. might be worth a dummy build first.
  12. I have a 83 mm gsxr oil cooled cylinder barrel and 3 pistons I may sell if your interested.
  13. Dot heads will not go in a slabby with rs carbs fitted.
  14. I have owned this 1100 since 1988 and have always used it as a race bike. this picture was taken at the jurby south road race 2007, I was about to win the forgotten era race when the photo was taken.
  15. I am sorry but you are incorrect, the following is just as written in the classic TT regs, {The promoters of the classic TT races will cover the costs of ALL entry fees necessary to enter the classic TT races.} Each race is four laps of the best circuit in the world and practice every evening for a week all for free . this year I paid £320 for me and the van with 2 bikes in the back. I am not trying to knock your event but on the face of it does look expensive to me, good luck with it anyway.
  16. What happens if the first rider bins it in the first session, game over and the two other riders are out of pocket by £330 each. motorcycle racing unfortunately is one of those occasions where the clowns pay to entertain the crowd . but seriously I have 4 bikes that I could use for this but that entry fee is ott.
  17. Might as well build a bike for the classic TT and race it on the worlds best circuit, the entry fee is free. makes that Donington thing look expensive at £995.
  18. I have a 83 or 84mm block and 3 pistons will check size in the morning, the cylinder is aftermarket I think the pistons are je I don't think I am ever going to use them so may sell if interested.
  19. Did you check the valves before you built it, then check clearances.
  20. Early 750s had a spline on the shaft that was different to all the other models so I would say no unless you can get a clutch centre with the correct spline, I would say the 1100 would kill it anyway.
  21. These are on there way to olivers mount for the next meeting
