  1. Just a word of caution, if you lap it too much you can reduce the clearance for the starter clutch and it will lock up once the rotor nut is fully tightened.
  2. Nigkat

    mk1/mk2

looking forward to seeing some progress on this one.
  3. You could try Blackshadow-uk.co.uk they do disc rebuilding and sell the bobbins for diy.
  4. 1170 was a 1000 and originally fitted with the vm 32`s They were rejetted by Pip Higham when he did the 1170.
  5. No idea about vm26 but having had mikuni 32mm slides on my kat 1170 and subsequently changing them for rs 36`s I can say the rs 36`s are well worth it. I had no problems setting them up and use them on the road. A flowed head would probably help bring out there best though.
  6. I run with k&Ns sweet as never had any probs. similar spec to yours but with RS36`s. If its more of any everyday ride your gonna be better off with filters.
  7. You can`t adjust the needle heights on keihins cvk carbs by moving the clips in the grooves, no grooves.. I raised the needle by putting M3 aluminium washers under the clip but the needle is barely tapered and is very on off. For spares seal etc try NRP in Manchester they were very helpful.
  8. This is what I did on my Kat with Zrx1200 forks and Cbr 600 wheel (no speedo drive) Speedo drive from I think a zrx , removed the drive dog plate and machined the housing down on both faces to suit my gap. machined a new drive dog to fit. needed to fit an oil seal to. machined the wheel to accept the drive. All fitted and working just fine.
  9. The SY katana was the final edition model sold in Japan in 2000 or so I think.
  10. Congratulations, lovely Kat. just one thing loose the seat strap.
  11. Happy days. Good job its all sorted.
  12. Lovely looking Kat. I see it has a round section swinging arm to. not seen one of those before, is it original Suzuki?
  13. GSX 750 f motor in a 550 kat. used the original 550 front engine mounts. rear bottom ones lined up with a spacer tube.
  14. Great looking bike you have there well worth the time and effort. Nice looking garage too, all mod cons.
  15. If you really want one of those rubber pegs you could always cut a bit off of a o ring of the appropriate size.
  16. I wouldn`t worry to much about the rubber peg, I`ve not had one in mine for years. Think its there to help reduce the noise coming from the clutch assy, can`t say I noticed on mine, that's assuming everything else is as it should be. Can`t help with the tolerance info but I would imagine its best kept to an absolute minimum.
  17. As said before You can just recalibrate by eye. At least you will be on the safe side for speed cameras. You gotta keep the clocks an essential part of of Kat me thinks.
