My bent inlet valves were 27.5mm. I thought I had found a set, specified that I needed 27.5mm dial. I have received 27mm ones. The supplier says that they are fine. But will the seats need recutting or will they lap in OK? If they need recutting I might as well go slightly larger. ??

Never heard of them before but look like just the job. They are + 1.5 mm. Very reasonably priced to, might even treat myself to some titanium retainers if I don't find anything else wrong.
-
OK thanks and no not got any valves. Think mine are+ 1mm but will have to check. What is the std. Inlet valve size?
-
Stripped the head and all the inlet valves are bent. Seats look OK, just need to check the guides to see if they are worn by the bent valves. Hopefully not. What is the best way to check? Think I'll replace the cam chain. Don't really want to split the bottom cases. What do you think about replacing with a riveted up chain or bite the bullet and replace with new endless one?
-
Found the problem. Rear cam chain guide snapped in 2 places. All the inlet valves are sitting proud and a few marks on top of the pistons. Hopefully there won't be to much damage to guides and seats.

Yeah cheers John, was going to be the first thing to look at but more concerned about the noise it made trying to turn it over.

Out for a ride this evening, running fine. Overtaking a car suddenly lost power. Running poorly on 2 cylinders, 2 and 3, with a very buzzy noisy. Limped home and died just as I stopped. Tried to start it and sounds very grauncy, like cam chain is very loose. stopped straight away trying. Removed spark plugs from 1 and 4, both look OK just a bit wet. Any thoughts before I start to take things apart? Cheers

Yeah, I'm sold on that. Tlr arm it is. Thanks.
-
Very nice, did it need any machining to fit?
-
Thanks, yeah like the look of the underbraced tlr arm, looks nice and beefy. Anyone got 1 in a kat, pics?

Hi Been thinking about changing the swinging arm on my kat. Currently using a zrx1200 but fancy a bit of a change. Thinking about a Tl1000r arm. Want to keep twin shocks. Anyone used a tlr arm got dimensions and any advice. Or any other suggestions, not blandit or anything to plain. Cheers

As title says, the motor is only running on cylinders 3&4. Carbs have been ultrasonically cleaned and stage 3 Dyno jet kit fitted. Good sparks on 1&2 and fuel in float bowls . I swapped the slides diaphragms no difference and checked the vacuum hoses seal. Other than that motor sounds sweet. Any ideas? Cheers

Cheers, good to hear. I've bought a master cylinder repair kit, so should sort it.
-
Thanks, yeah the slave cylinder has a new seal, so all good there. Good to know that the master cylinder is up to the job. I moved the cover over 5mm to clear offset sprocket and made up a new rod 5mm longer so free and clean. Looking like it's ok then. Probably get it all running, need to sort carbs out first and see if it frees up. Cheers .

Having problems getting the clutch on my project working. It's a mk 2 bandit 12 and I'm using a kwak zzr 1400 radial master cylinder. It's marked as 3/4. Is this big enough as I get very little movement on the clutch actuation pin less than 10mm. Been bleeding it with no bubbles, pushed the cylinder back and it doesn't seem to get any better just enough to turn the wheel whilst it's in gear with clutch pulled in but with a lot of drag. Engine been stood for quite a while so could the plates be sticking causing the drag? Getting pretty fed up just pumping fluid through.

Cheers fellas, good starting point.

On my Red Herring project I'm running a Standard mk2 Bandit 12 motor and carbs. I'm using the standard carb intake rubbers with twin Ramair foam sock filters and a after market openish exhaust system. What carb settings are a good starting point, jet sizes etc. Or is it better to get a stage 3 Dynojet kit? Thoughts please, cheers.

Do the 750 slabbies have the same spline pattern for the front sprocket as later slingshots and bandits. Cheers
-
Thanks, something for me to work with. I'll see how I get on

Fitting a mk2 bandit 12 engine and wiring loom to my Red herring project. I'm using a motogadget m-lock keyless ignition switch, so understand I need to Fit a resistor, 100 ohm ? into the loom between the CDI unit and the ignition switch. Can you shed some light on where to put it. Want to remove the side stand switch to and I think I need a diode? What size should I use? Electrics definitely not my strong point. Cheers
