Crikey that was ages ago, ill try and find the pictures, But the 23/27 cast into the shaft are just that casting numbers apparently, there is a letter stamped on the RH end face that, also apprently, denotes the grind....
  2. Whatever I do will have to wait. Castle coombe Classic track day next Friday week..!!! So better get me finger out, got it out and sorted all the small things and went for test flight number 2, much better, all that needs doing is the gear lever position sorting and the bastard clutch, its sooooo heavy, I think I must have fitted 2 HD springs instead of just one.... Anyway it went fine stopped brilliantly, carbs are not quite 100% but haven't got time to find a DYNO.. need to fit a baffle as its a bit loud Si instead I wiped it over with an oily rag, that will fix it
  3. There you go they are quite different.. You learn something every day round here, I never knew that
  4. the one above is for a 1100 this is the 750 50 is 10 x 55 mm 52 is 10 x 36 mm 53 is 10 x 50 mm
  5. 48 is 10 x 59 mm 50 i5 10 x 27mm 51 is 10 x 46 mm if ive got some ally bar i can knock some up if your desperate??
  6. Not sure about plain steel look???? I think whites the way to go, whatever i choose will be later on after the summer..
  7. Probably a bandit barrel fitted as all 1200's 1157cc's are blank, except the very first year 95/96 were stamped 1156cc for some reason.. every gsxr 1100 ive had has has 1127cc on it....only way to be 100% is to measure bore, 1200 bandit is 79mm. gsxr 78mm
  8. The fork spacing is slightly different, slingy 214 mm , K series 207 mm, so you need to find 3.5 mm each side, can be done with spacers but depends if the wheel spindle is long enough, then move the discs to the centre of the callipers, either buy spacing the discs or moving the callipers
  9. If you have the kit, its worth a go. And id like to see those blokes in the video, stick a 30 year old slingy fork in that piddly little vice and undo it with a 6 inch punch!!!!!!
  10. Short answer, YES....... I did a set years ago, the tubes were £100 each back then, and getting the knuckle off was a right bastard!!!!!!!!!!! Tiny grub screw to remove first, mine was rounded so drilled them out, Its a really fine thread and the ones i had were lock-tighted on, tried allsorts, but couldn't hold the tubes tight enough, in the end I stuck the knuckle in boiling water and then stanchions in a big heavy lathe at work, an old wheel spindle in the hole and a 6 foot scaffolding bar, 2 fat blokes and it turned eventually! I did look at Phillpots fork re-chroming service, it was expensive but i think if I was doing it again I might get them to do it for me, mainly as I dont have access to a big lathe, to hold the tubes anymore..
  11. But of course, Dave,.. We might be waiting a while though
  12. Excellent much bigger than mine
  13. Yup it’s all do able, my teapots got gsxr K7 forks in slingy yokes with b12 wheel and discs. Yahmaha calliper's, home made spacers, disc spacers and modified speedo drive, none of it’s difficult, just need a lathe.
  14. I briefly had this lot in a 7/11 i was doing before the MOTO martin came along 2014 I think complete R1 front end
  15. Thats right, it isn't a straight swop for the gsxr wheel and stuff, you will need to make spacers for the discs to line them up with the calipers anyway., and spacers and stuff to make the wheel fit, spindle size is different for starters... Easiest way is to get the complete front end and fit the slingy steering stem into the yampaha yoke, and a top hat spacer needs making for the top yoke.. , not difficult as ive done it before.. Thinking about it I have an early set of R1 forks and bottom yoke in the shed somewhere, i can do some measuring if you like,,..??
  16. The spacing is 4 mm narrower 210 mm instead of 214.. are you using R1 wheel, discs, calipers??
  17. Yes its no problem, a bit tight for room, but not difficult, I don't understand what you say about removing and replacing the plug caps and then it runs alright?? Are the plugs sparking and are they a wet with fuel??.. it could be the fuel taps passing and cylinder 1 and 2 are full of petrol and the smoke is fuel in the exhaust burning off.. Id check the carbs before pulling the head off.
  18. I made me own, works spot on
  19. GSXR 1000 K7/8 are the ones that work best ive used them in about 12 mk1 bandits, all the others are too long,, if you are a "larger gentleman" you might need a stiffer spring. I'm 18 stone and on my track day bike i did.. they are 10 mm longer than a B112 shock so need a bit of a squeeze to get it in.
  20. Yes Iwas watching it, £7400,,, flippin eck!!!!
