  1. Did you find the problem Swiss Toni or was it simply the forks getting in the way?
  2. I experienced similar issues when putting my halves back together. The forks seemed to mismatch just as the casings came close...Turned out, after the third attempt of trying, that the larger end bearing kept getting slightly pushed out by the wavy shims just as I went to close them.Once I noticed this they went back together with a satisfying clunk.

    Downpipe link

Ok that makes it easier then. One less bit to worry about.Cheers guys.
  4. Guys, In process of fabricating another set of downpipes for the EFE and I was wondering whether I should fit a link between #2 & #3 tubes while I am at it.If I am correct in thinking that a link helps the balance of flow or something like that I am thinking this time around I am going 4 into 2 with cans either side of the bike.

    My day

    This says it all....
  7. I have never used them although I had thought of doing so some time ago but I too had my concerns but should I have had concerns,i don't know. You see people using them from Old Skool to brand new bikes (looking at you America lol ) so I cannot see any issues if they are made well and are fitted correctly....M Having said that I simply cut and shut my GSXR1100 arm extending it by 100 mm,adding in new material including internal splicing and plug welding just to make sure it stays put.Why do it this way???...Mainly because I was after a 'factory' look and it was cheaper. The deciding factor over the bolt on extensions was simply that..they looked bolt on.
  8. I have a tray full of plugs of various ages although non older than a year.I was going through them like sweets....it was all down to an over fuelling issue which killed plugs like there was no tomorrow. They do not like being soaked in fuel. You are simply washing away the spark whether it's in the head or out of it.....Sometimes a burn off in the oven brought them back to life....Now I have the fuelling sorted I have never had a problem and even have one or two of those killed plugs in the engine to this day. I would be looking at a possible leaky float needle on that cylinder for a start.
  9. I would have thought if one plug has spark issues so would its coil sharing partner (1&4,2&3)...Did you change the leads to the plug?...how does the plug look?...valve clearancesand compression all ok? oh and what plugs are you using as I went through a few before and heard some may not be genuine but it is hard to tell I thought.
  10. I found opening the throttle slightly when starting has helped a lot in stopping my kick back.
  11. Gsxr rear sets on an EFE...with adaptor plates which are fully adjustable, not that I have mind you Anything can be made to fit with a little fabrication and/or imagination.
  12. I love Cadwell as a track with all the dips and fast bends....This year I popped over on Sunday just for a mosey about.I got there a little later than I had wanted mind you.I noticed the lady organising the parade laps so I thought it would be rude not to,so I stuck a tenner in the charity pot and went to get me bike. It wasn't quite the same as a proper track day and a I did get a little telling off for a fast squirt on the back straight to the goose neck Saw some sweet looking bikes,...I especially likes the Red GS1127R...I'd give my left nut for that. Couldn't hang around long though as I told a mate I would see him at East Kirkby down the road before I had to get home....I enjoyed the ride out on the old EFE but my fingers began to turn white with the vibes by the end of the day lol....(been told it's the new tyres) I think next year I will do both Donny and Cadwell....
  13. I ran mine in,albeit MTC pistons, for around 300 miles. No thrashing/red lining/uphill in high gears etc, just rode it sensibly,on cheapo mineral oil...however,it did burn a little oil on start up so I was worried I had been too careful but a weekend giving it the beans last year at Donington 'completed' the process and now all is good in the hood.
  14. Hopefully popping over for a look-see sometime too....
  15. When I fitted mine to the 12v coil feed at the coil itself I seemed to have issues with misfiring at certain revs so I fitted it to the positive battery terminal for test purposes and it all seemed fine.I then found a spare switched 12v feed wire (from rear light loom) and used that...works fine now...I remember Gixer1460 telling me before that these are more suited to racing bikes with minimal wiring/accessories which could complicate things......I do know however that going round Donington recently the limiter played up due to the lighting circuit fuse falling out lol...
  16. Maybe the carbs still need attention..... Does it make any thumps or dull knocks from anywhere?

I am not sure if I have a spare or not but something tells me I purchased another one a couple of years ago for test purposes but I wont know till I get to the garage tomorrow...I do know I bought another pick-up assembly for the same reasons. If I do not have one I will volunteer to be a guinea pig
  23. I am surprised the test was successful with all the noise going on in the bay lol...those stink wheels makes some racket!!
