Ah,

Is there a documented Frankenstein big bore option for gs1000 for , let’s say, 1150cc +?

The point is, you can use ‘Busa pistons to make a cheap 1216 on an oil cooled so is there a production bike piston that has 18mm wrist pins and will give 1150cc+ (N/A) on a gs1000, (I know it’ll need new liners )

I've got 78.25mm in my GS1000, that's 1245cc, and that is about the biggest you can go.

For these barrels to fit in the crank case, material needs to be removed.

No rocket science, but you have to be carefull at a few points not to take away too much.

Suzuki gs1100g barrels will bore out to 75mm and Suzuki gsx1150 liners will bore out to 77mm but both liners into gs1000 barrels need work ;)

And as we all like pictures here is one of Mine MTC 76MM PISTON

Interesting piston treatment as deffo not a std MTC LOL! I can surmise what the grooving is attempting to achieve - i'd like to hear your take on it?

Wiseco 1085 in mine and it goes like the clappers. I’ve hammered it on track days for years without problems. I’ve also got a set of 73mm bored barrels with yoshimura pistons spare.

from my understanding its for less drag with more lubrication around the piston?

Hmmmm! Wouldn't make much sense as piston to bore clearances mean contact should be minimal anyway. Contact through 'rocking' is a possibility but only occurs on the skirt at 90 degrees to the pin! Lubrication / oil trapping actually adds to drag and puts additional duty on the oil control ring pack so . . . . .  .!

so.... what is your take on it?
