Widest rear tire for 80' gs1000

What is the widest back tire that will fit on a 1980 Suzuki GS1000. Its got 130/90-17 now. Or a good recommendation for a good sticky Tire because the Dunlop that's on it now is old and the rubber is pretty hard

Your current rim is the limiting factor.

Widest is usually not the optimal fitting for tyres, especially on old bikes. A modern tyre (matched pair) of the correct size for the rim is the way to go. When I ran stock wheels I always called either SMD tyres or Sharples (are they still in business?) to ask the tyre gurus their opinions.

No I don't want to modify anything.

Don't go bigger than standard profile tyres if you've got standard wheels -  unless you want to wreck the handling.  Pretty much all modern rubber is 10 times better than what was around in the 80's.

If you change the rear wheel you should get a 160 in there without much trouble.
