wraith Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Ok all, before I start into the bike, just thought I'd ask you lot to see if you have any other thoughts. B12 engine. Over the summer started to get hard to start, would turn over nicely but would start to back fire/pop through the exhaust, then the starter motor/ or starter clutch would start to go clunk, then the battery would die very quickly. When bike is running battery reads 14.4v and when stud reads around 12.4-12.8v Thought it might be battery, but now put two new batteries on (different types) same thing. Check the starter clutch all looks well. Thinking ever bad earth or starter motor? Have got a blue spark but not the strangest one I've seen and same on all 4 cylinders. Any ideas or thoughts? Quote
Toecutter Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Have you checked your valve clearances recently? 1 Quote

wraith Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 She starts Checked the valves, one valve was a little tight but not by much. Adjusted. Checked carbs, a quick clean and found one pilot jets adjuster half a turn out from the others reset. Found one HT lead number 1 was loose in the coil and the cap not seating very well on the plug, temp fix will now be putting coil sticks on. Thanks all, and it's so nice getting back into the garage and playing with the bikes, even if it's sorting a problem We are sad people really, to enjoy playing with bikes, that Couse use problems and doing all this in the winter cold 2 Quote
