Brians 7/12 Posted November 24 Posted November 24 So… full of questions this morning… lol… … … So… looking to buy a set of RS36 to put on my Powerscreen for a bit before I pull the engine out… but I’m not sure you guys know how awkward it is to work on… plus access to the choke & idler screw would be unaccessible… lol… not to worried about the idler screw because once set should be good to go… but choke could be a bit of a mare… anyone ever run a standard Suzuki handlebar choke to a set of RS Carbs Quote
Dezza Posted November 24 Posted November 24 You can do a cable choke conversion on RS carbs. Parts are listed in the schematic diagram supplied with RSs (easy to find online as a pdf). I got all the bits needed from Allens. 2 Quote

wraith Posted November 24 Posted November 24 One other thing to check, is the room under the tank. I found when I put a set of b12 carbs on, the top of the carbs hit the fuel tap. 1 Quote

McLean Racing Posted November 24 Posted November 24 they 100% will not go in Brian without cutting the float bowls, I tried to fit RS40s and decided to go EFI instead. I think it was the RH float bowl needed the accel pump part cut off it and I wasnt prepared to do that. Its that or take a grinder to the inside of the frame 1 Quote
McLean Racing Posted November 24 Posted November 24 U can see how close the RH bowl is here and i hadnt even got it into the rubbers yet 1 Quote

wraith Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Must say theses gsx1100f frames are very tight and don't give any room to spare. When you take all the standard bodywork off they are quite a small bike/frame 1 Quote

If the rack is fitted into the rubbers, they should move forward and maybe angle up at the rear so if anything gaps should increase? I'll admit I've never tried this combination but generally, RS's will fit where CV's once resided! 1 Quote
Dezza Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Powerscreens have BST34 tintops, the most compact of the carbs used as OEM on oilcooled bikes. They're titchy compared to e.g. the bloody great BST38s used on some 750s. My bike had BST34s when I got it and to get RSs on meant moving the throttle bracket to between 3 and 4. Otherwise they fouled the frame spar. 2 Quote
Joseph Posted November 25 Posted November 25 BST 34 : top of cap to center bore : 69mm RS36/38 : top of cap to center bore : 84mm 2 Quote
Joseph Posted November 25 Posted November 25 (And on a side note) BST38/40 : top of cap to center bore : 92mm 1 Quote

You cant get it near the rubbers because the carbs need to be moved over to the right to allow them to line up with the rubbers, in the pic, its already touching. You need to cut part of the float bowl away or the frame to get clearance. That said, you can fit RS carbs into a powerscreen, but they dont bolt straight in, u need to modify either the carbs or frame do it. It was tight as fook when i fitted throttle bodies too but they went in.....just 1 Quote
wraith Posted November 25 Posted November 25 I've got b12 carbs on my gsxf and had to remove the sensor thing on the side of number 4 carb to get them in. Also had to get a new number 1 carb top, as I didn't realise how near the top of the carb was to the tape, till I put a small hole in the carb top So yes theses frames are compact 1 Quote
