Question 1052 engine

Hi all, does anyone know whether there are any suitable plug caps, other than original, for this engine? I have a misfire at low revs, which I think is probably just a partialy blocked idle valve, but just want to cover the bases??

NGK or possibly Champion are a go-to for aftermarket plug caps. Generally won't have the oval rubber cover but easy enough to slide the old one off - its only a water shedder so not important to actual ignition running!

Hi, NGK don't appear to make one, which seems strange considering how many Gsxrs and Bandits are out there? I will see if Champion do one?

You just need to get the long straight NGK one.

The only problem I've found if not using the rubber cover for road use, is you can get small stones down the plug tunnel when the council have been doing there tar and feathering of the roads. Had this happen to me twice now.

But if you have the fairing on might not be as much of a problem

Is the long straight one actually long enough? I tried fitting one of these to another bike which had long plug tunnels and the top was below the level of the rocker cover, which then made it an absolute nightmare to remove it when it got attached firmly. Ended up binning them and finding some decent used OEM items. Is this a potential issue here?

I remember have a 1052 years back and when I got it, it had them on but I ended up putting Dyna coils and HT on and it was about 20 years ago so memory could be a bit vague

Talking about the long plastic part that fits onto the plug? NGK discontinued a lot of those old ones.

I used some aftermarket car ones on the Harris but needed the bit that screws onto the top of the plugs then fitted the standard dust caps to the leads.
