davecara Posted August 21 Posted August 21 You know the one, sticks the battery down by the sprocket cover out the way. Anyone got any decent pics/plans/references/suppliers/spare ones etc? If i relocate the battery on my slingshot it'll solve a few headaches. I'll make one if needs be but I do love a piccy or three! @Markz9didnt you use one on one of your race bikes? Quote
Markz9 Posted August 21 Posted August 21 (edited) All off the pictures, are of my bike except the last one which shows another way of fixing to bike as you need to keep a means of using the clutch lifting mechanism, the battery box will need to fit beyond that although I have also used a cover off a gsxr750m and used that clutch lifter system, it’s the same as gs1000 it’s not a simple mod but means battery is now the sprocket cover so tighter fit Dupersunc actually made both size bat boxes for me they are pretty straightforward to fab Edited August 21 by Markz9 Spelling 8 Quote
davecara Posted August 21 Author Posted August 21 Ace thanks Mark. Ive got a tiny Shido Li battery on the slingy so the box can be really small, i'm just scarce for space in the standard location, its full of wires and relays! I've got a standard B12 hydro clutch slave on there now so it'll need to work with that, it doesnt look outside the realm of my skills, in steel at least! If anyone wants to make me an ally one though........... Quote
Upshotknothole Posted August 21 Posted August 21 I think this is the only photo I have of it, and not sure if it helps or not, but I did used to have this battery box that sat above the top shock mount and bolted to the top rear engine mount if I remember right. Might be another option if the hydraulic clutch pushes the battery out too far. Quote

The Shido I'm using isnt much bigger than 2 packs of smokes so it's a tiny thing, Ive just got no room where the standard box is. Ive got a carbon airbox coming from @SFCand coupled with the relays and other efi gubbins the batt aint staying there. I could move it to the tail easy enough but that just doesnt look as trick! 1 Quote
Upshotknothole Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Gotcha, wasn't sure how a normal sized battery was gonna look on top of the hydraulic clutch cover, but sounds like it'll be more similar to how the old Ducs had their batteries tucked down low. Quote
clivegto Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Not a battery box Dave but I notice the oil catch tank mounted in the same place on my Turbo Scratcher cracked the mounting lugs after a few thousand miles so I re-did it with rubber oil cooler style mounts 1 Quote

davecara Posted September 27 Author Posted September 27 I'm still mulling over this. Dont fancy one in steel so its got to be ally. Also not into paying $240 for one so it might have to be steel! 3 Quote
Upshotknothole Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I'm familiar with that site. I really like some of their parts, but I also really don't like their prices. Quote

Pegleg Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I knocked this up from 2mm ally sheet off Amazon. I'm shit at fabrication. Folds easily. Just need a pet welder. 1 Quote
Pegleg Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) Rough it hardboard first. Could get it laser cut if you're fussy about the finish. I'm not obviously Edited October 3 by Pegleg Quote
davecara Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 Make a bracket and clean this up a bit and it’ll be reet I reckon! 5 Quote

Upshotknothole Posted October 4 Posted October 4 If ya ever feel like making another one of those and shipping it across the pond, I’d happily use that as an excuse to upgrade my shock. Quote
