Rijko Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 i can get a sweet deal on a swingarm which looks like a Metmachex. It lives in an unmodified GS750 frame. Anyone know if it's possible to swap it into a GS1000 ? Thanks ! Quote
grebo Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Bearings are different sizes 22 X 29 X 30 on the 750 25 X 33 X 30 on the 1000 so should transfer from the 750 by making top hat bushes for the 1000 frame keeping the 750 stuff But you may luck out and find its a 1000 arm sleeved down to fit the 750 so some one could run wider wheel, fingers crossed 1 Quote
Rijko Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 thanks guys Bought the swingarm, picking it up this weekend. Fingers crossed indeed ! Quote

Rijko Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 i'm collecting parts to build something like this : I will open a build thread for this one later on. That 'Zero' seat is on my whishlist, very hard to find. If it is a ZR 550 swingarm, i found a Fleabay ad that claims all models '91-'99 use the same 25 X 33 X 30 bearings as the GS1000, so crossing my fingers this is an easy swap. Time saved will be put into polishing the swingarm. 1 Quote

Rijko Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) darn. any chance you'll be leaving those Dymags unattended any time soon Rene ? I've been looking for the exact same 3-spoke 18" Dymags like the Knarf has for ages Rare as hen's teeth, those wheels Edited February 10, 2016 by Rijko 1 Quote
johnr Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 have you not considered some cma's they look pretty similar to the dymags but as a fraction of the price. 1 Quote

Dymag is back in business, and they do produce the magnesium 3-spoke wheels. Quote The Classic CH3 Range are the World's original three spoke Magnesium motorcycle wheels as used by Eddie Lawson. Pricing starts at £2400 I was hoping for old wheels and having them inspected by Dymag... Quote
johnr Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 cma arent magnesium, theyre just cast ally, they were aftermarket wheels from the period, ever so slightly lighter than stock, but not fussy and delicate like magnesium. ive got a spare 18 inch rear that i might sell if you want it. i will try and find a pic Quote
johnr Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 rear only, im keeping the front with the lovely 1980s huge cast iron disks, rear is an 18 inch item that is a kawasaki fitment (4 bolt rear disk). Quote
Rijko Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 thanks for the offer John, i'll start looking for an 18" front CMA. Still hoping for Dymags, but now i have 2 options Quote
johnr Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 no probs, its been hung in my shed for years, so will be there for years more no doubt. good luck in your search! Quote
jrbass62 Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Are there bushing or conversion kits to swap these swingarms? I have a 1977 GS 750B with 83 1100E engine and want to add same aluminum swingarm.. Quote
