ral Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Thinking about having complete rewire on GSX1100 1980. Bike runs great and been set up on Dyno , but wiring is letting it down, Any recommended competent people on here with the skills to take it on??? Midlands based. Thanks. Quote

imago Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 (edited) I can (Birmingham), @davecaramay be able to fit it in (Birkenhead) or Rupe's Rewires in Peterborough. There will no doubt be others, but those are the three I know do a good job. Edited to add that there's a guide price page for looms on Rupe's Rewires that's very good in terms of likely cost and what's involved. I would suggest it's pretty much accurate for whoever would do the work unless you have a mate and get it at mate's rates. Edited July 30, 2023 by imago Quote
ral Posted July 30, 2023 Author Posted July 30, 2023 Rupes full booked until November, was hoping to get it done asap. Quote
imago Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 It's the sort of work that books up quite a way in advance, more so if they only do bike looms. Quote
TonyGee Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 their was a guy called "ferret" who is/was a mobile lecy fitter. he sleeps in his van Quote
Dezza Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Unless you have very deep pockets, DIY. Just replicate the original wiring. All the tools and materials are freely available and you aren't going to get stung for a grand+ 2 Quote

Beware of anyone that is too cheap, because you really do get what you pay for Made that mistake once Every days a learning day 1 Quote

Electrical work whether it's fault finding and repair or making a loom takes time and you've only got to look round at hourly rates to see how quickly that adds up. Quote
DAZ Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 The other thing is if it's not up to spec then you may get stranded at the side of the road, if you're lucky ,if not you may watch your pride and joy smoulder and not in a sexy way... If you do it yourself do some homework and ask the questions, 1 Quote
