BikeJake Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 I've been tinkering and riding, Enjoying the bike a lot ..I'm just asking this throttle is slow isnt it,I'm ringing it's guts and I realise ..oh... it's not wide open , and there's a bit left. Anyone swap out the twist grip for anything faster? Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 so you mean the twistgrip isn't opening the throttle fully?? move your hand round the grip a bit to open it more,, get a QA throttle, or make one of these.. 1 Quote
Gixer1460 Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Apparently R6 or R1 twist grip barrels are 1/3 or 1/4 turn . . . . . . if you like that sort of thing LOL! 1 Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Ive used R1 ones several times, But you need the right years... Ill have a look see if i wrote it down !! Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 I have 98-06 written in the back of my manual?? they ain't cheap though, £25 for a throttle tube??? Quote
wraith Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Yes I've used the same one as FBB has, with bandit switch gear. They are better but I ended up get a cheep Chinese QA off the bay and a YZF600 switch gear, so you keel the same spacing. Quote
BikeJake Posted July 3, 2023 Author Posted July 3, 2023 So a 96-06 R1 Throttle tub inside the original switch block? Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 It was many years ago, but I reckon that’s why I wrote that in my manual. Had it fitted to mine for a while until,I made an insert that was bigger diameter, like in the picture Quote
coombehouse Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 (edited) 2004 R1. Mt09, xt660 Yamaha Part #: 4YR-26240-02. Colour: Black. Diameter of cable pulley: 36.5mm. Turn: 1/5 Alternatively 5sl-26240-01 is the same 2006 R6. Yamaha Part #: 2CO-26240-00. Colour: White. Diameter of cable pulley: 40.5mm. Turn: 1/6 May need additional clearance inside switch housing & messing with throttle cable length Edited July 4, 2023 by coombehouse Quote
Rncv Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Go and buy a domino xm2 QA throttle and a set of domino cables. they have changeable parts for the throttle tube to go from street>slightly quicker street>track also the cables have the best feel I’ve found so far from OEM, venhill and domino. The throttle is buttery smooth and worth every penny. Quote
