Buzuki Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Year 1998 , question : Where this Bandit engine is power restricted to 72KW / 98 HP ? -on camshafts ? -on carbs ? -on CDI ? -on exaust system ? -on static compression ratio? -or somewhere else ? Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 They weren't restricted as such, that's all they were designed to make, 98HP, some of the European ones were restricted to 80 HP.. BUT its very very easy to up the HP, using GSXR parts. Quote

fatblokeonbandit Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Camshafts and cylinder heads, depends how much power you want and how much money you have GSXR 750j/k cams drop in and give a good boost of power with a race can and decent air filter, if you can find them 1 Quote

Yes I have those J/K cams , same as nice race 4-2-1 exaust system altogether with K&N air filter . Quote

clivegto Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 (edited) Well a turbo is the easiest bolt on big power increase you can do. Edited April 11, 2023 by clivegto 1 Quote
Bow Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 As already stated, GSXR cams if you can find a good set, decent exhaust system, ignition advancer, disconnect the infamous wheelie wire, port match your inlets to the head, upjet the carbs, junk the airbox, fit dual filters, then get it on a dyno and set it up properly. 1216 kit brings them alive , sod the turbo, I’ve got both, and prefer the N/A for normal road use then sort the brakes, suspension, handling, as you will find they don’t go round corners very well on 25year old knackered suspension 2 Quote
wraith Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 If you just want to get the best out of the standard engine, what you have is about the best without going into the engine its self. You could fit a ignition advancer or slot your back plate, will give a better response at bottom end but some say you lose top? Quote
bluedog59 Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 I'd sort the chassis before delving into the engine. With a few suspension mods the old B12 can be made to hustle along at a good pace in real world riding. 5 Quote
