busa ash Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Always wanted a classic trick framed suzuki , remember in my youth reading bike mags and looking at these big aircooled beasts .So Just managed to find a hidden gem up in the top of the country , I have found it through the harris owners fb page .Its a gs 1000 based build magnum 2 . It has been dry stored for 20 years after having a bit of a mixed past . So I travelled from manchester to bucky past inverness to collect 420 each way Not massive distance but 7.5 hours each way through some beautiful scenery but challenging weather . I am in a hotel so no pictures till I do the rest of my journey home . 3 Quote
Captain Chaos Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 alone in a hotel, in the middle of nowhere, with a Magnum2 nearby.I bet your right hand is doing overtime. 2 Quote
busa ash Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 thanks vizman , taken forever to find one at the right time Quote
vizman Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 are you going to keep the period funk?.....I do hope so. Quote
busa ash Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 The idea is for it to have a colour change and decals 80s all the way and keep all its magnum 2 parts , not uprating too usd or single sider . There are not many magnum 2 out there with the original bodywork . So it will be a marmite bike too some and a survivor too others ;-) 2 Quote

busa ash Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 trying to see how many parts are missing and fitted clocks . Quote
busa ash Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 anyone recommend a front brake master cylinder from the early 80s possibly remote res, as i was into my gt250s and x7 then . been searching for refrence pictures to help with getting my build moving forward i have taken the tank too the painter for a clean up ,flat and prime (hoping the filler is not hiding anything too bad) Quote
busa ash Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 also got a message from a good mate and an original oss good guy , who thinks he has a magnum 2 loom made for a gs1000 in a box , so crossing fingers and toes been looking for parts to get the build moving , ordered consumables so now its a waiting game and more research pictures are for research please ignore the non suzuki engines its purely the fact that google doesnt have many magnum 2 s 1 Quote
grebo Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 AP Racing have reintroduced the classic master cylinder range due to demand from restoration and classic racing series,so new but you could not get more period ,you would prob have to keep clipons 1 Quote
