Grimeric
Evening all. I wasn't sure if this should be here or in general chat but as its a Gsx frame I'm sure it's okay. Admin move if you feel necessary. Im wanting to finally get a start on my long dreamed of Gsx build. Frame is a gsx 750 et and I'm wanting to slip in a bandit 12 front end. Is it just as easy as pressing an et stem into the bandit yokes? I'm guessing the stops will have to be modified too. I am sure I read on the temp forum that someone mentioned you had to get the stem knurled to get a really tight fit? New to building so any advice appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Tony Nitrous
Same here. I'm breaking 1999 B12 to build a 750ET.Id love a radial super trick front end but for the initial build it might be getting the 12's front end to get it up on its wheels. I'm expecting a stem change and possibly a change of "full lock" lugs / stops ? Anything I need to know ? Edited November 15, 2015 by Tony Nitrous Quote Link to comment
Grimeric
Yes same here Tony. I'm thinking of a b12 front to get it on the road whilst I get the cash together for a nice set of usd's. If anyone wants to share their gsx with bandit front end pictures then feel free :) Edited November 15, 2015 by Grimeric Picture begging 1 Quote Link to comment
Grimeric
Anyone know if the stem just presses in or has to be knurled? Quote Link to comment
Dod
Hi there. You can get the b12 stem cut lower and machine bearing and threaded parts lower to suit or use a gsxr 750 stem. Can't remember what year suits the bandit lower stem as the newer ones just fall in. Remove lock stops from 750 frame and weld in a stop to bottom of yoke. Quote Link to comment
Paulm
Slabby, slingy 750/1100 stems fit bandit yokes,my ET has no lock stops at all, never has had any. Edited December 27, 2015 by Paulm 1 Quote Link to comment
Mr farty
If you're going to do the B12 front end thing with B12 wheels then I'd definitely get them de seemed as the B12 wheels look absolute pants with the seams still there. Quote Link to comment
FOD
Each to their own, but I'd never de-seam wheels (Suzuki wouldn't put 'em there if they didn't need 'em...they're too tight to waste alloy) FOD. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mr farty
Yeah I know a lot of people don't de seam their wheels for safety reasons but all I can say is that I ran my old GSX for years with de seamed wheels without any issues. The seams do look ugly though. Quote Link to comment
Swiss Toni
Maybe if you hoisted the front, and came down hard, the absence of the web might enable a buckled rim? Quote Link to comment
Reelinfeele
I swapped stems from original forks. Had to cut a relief in old yoke to get it out. Added knurling to the bottom portion of stem and pressed into bandit bottom yoke. Bent the Damn press! I have an 1100ed. Bearings were same size. I had to have the collar that goes into top clamp machined to fit bandit top triple. Using a 2002 front end. Should be the same for earlier. Quote Link to comment
Grimeric
Cheers guys. Sounds good. Them de seamed wheels do look nice though. Quote Link to comment
gsx
Right way up slingy yokes fit your frame and take bandit forks as do rf 900 Quote Link to comment

gsx
an't help you with that one but had slabby forks with bandit 6 wheel and all bolted straight up. Just chuc k all your suzuki bits in the air and something you can use will fall down. Or someone that talks sense might make a post Quote Link to comment
Paulm
There might be issues with the discs in fiitting bandit wheels in slingy forks and vice versa,I'm sure the discs have different offsets, didn't you have to put a spacer(washer?) behind the discs on one set to centre the discs in the calipers? Can't remember which way round it was though. 1 Quote Link to comment
Grimeric
I'm going to keep it simple for this. B12 yokes onto the gsx stem and b12 front end etc. Quote Link to comment
