R1 swingarm brace

Evening all

has anyone any info on welding a gen 1 R1 swingarm brace to a slingshot swingarm, I’ve tried the search and the web, but not much out there

I welded a CBR900 SC29 brace on my '89 GSXR 1100 swingarm and it looks quite at home.

I then added a Gen 1 R1 mudguard on the brace, and the contours were compatible, so I guess that answers your question

Why did you only use part of the brace mate

So there was room for the shock, and I wanted it to look more like a RRK swing arm.

That's how I did it on my B12. Remember to put the holes in so you can access the suspension bolts and, if you're not going to fit a hugger, drill out the rivnuts and weld up the holes. Flat them back and they were never there.

Note, you will need to cut and fold down the front of the R1 brace and then weld and grind back the weld to look neat. Also make sure it's enough to the right to avoid the chain rubbing. I anodised mine also

Mite not be of use, but have you looked at getting a gsxr750wr wn etc swing arm?

Just that it fits slingshot and comes with a brace as standard that's looks similar to the ones in the pics (above posts) with braces welded on. Would seem easy way do get a brace swing arm instead of getting 2 swing arms and cutting one up and then the hassle of jiging it up and welding it.

I think with the WR arm you need the calliper hanger and other bits to make good, I’ve got the brace and my mates a wiz alloy welding

Quite rare though the 94-95 swinger i suppose the 4xv r1 is easier to find

I've got a 94-95 swingarm, they're good for 750s, a bit short for 1100s. Though I might try sticking it in my next 7/11 build to see just how wheelie happy it makes the bike.
